Well after about 2 months of having a new dog from the humane society, he decided he would run out the front door today. been out looking for 4 hours, can't find him. 22 degrees out. great night to be a lost pup.

What kind of dog?

Keep the lights on and check frequently...good luck finding the little guy.

Don't be too hard on yourself either...sometimes these things just happen. Hopefully he comes walking back soon...

man sorry to hear about that. agreed on not beating yourself up over it, it happens. Pups find a way to bolt no matter what you do sometimes.

Try your local PD or if you're in Milwaukee county try MADACC.

Any description of the dog. And possibly the area you live in so those of us that are in that area can be on the look out. If you got it from the HS he/she has a chip so that will help a lot, esp. if someone brings it into the HS as they always check for chips when they get a dog brought in (I bet MADDAC does the same). Hell my puppy will be walking towards the door ready to come in from outside and then all of the sudden she decides she's gonna go all Jimmie Johnson on my back yard. Hopefully you find your pup!!!

got a sick feeling that he didnt make it through the night. problem is that the humane society here in jefferson isnt open on sunday. went to police department, said they would put word out. he does have a chip, and a collar with his name on it and his id number. if it was summer i would feel a lot better about our chances of finding him. its too cold at night to be outside. im just sick, i didnt even see him go for the door until he was in the yard already. never even looked back at me, just took off. last time i saw him he was already 2 blocks away in a field. could be anywhere. :crying

Don't give up hope, animals are pretty resourceful when it comes to survival. He might just turn up yet.

Sorry to hear that man. but never give up... we lost a cat in winter last year and she randomly came home after 2 weeks, anything can happen.

hes pretty lucky not have been hit by a car on his travel over there. he crossed the street several times including hwy 26 here in jefferson, which is divided and busy.

Also you might want to get a tag made with your info and have it on his collar so if someone finds him and doesn't have access to chip info they can at least give you a call. Thats what I did with my dog.

Aww Beagle love! It's amazing how quick Beagles can run when they are determined. Howie hated the snow last winter, but when our neighbor was getting her mail, he ran right across a foot of snow in our front yard to get some attention. But walk on the driveway even after it's shoveled - nope!

Howie and Scout. Scout is our 11 year old foster puppy. (:

If he's a foster puppy, does that mean you have to eventually give him away??

If his owner is able to care for him properly, I would imagine so. I also have his little sister here.

His sister looks very big........I don't think I would be a good foster person for animals, I would want to keep them ALL, and then I'd be like the crazy cat lady on The Simpsons. I've already got 4 cats, off to a good start!! ;)

beagles are roamers...in the worst way. The only two breeds worse for getting out and running away are huskies and Malamutes.

Though beagles don't usually run away from home more than the "wander" away, following their incredible noses...
