Buddy is looking at possibly getting a 1991 RangRover....

3.9Liter v8 4x4 and has 122k miles...

Any opinions or facts about this particular truck?
Any opinions on a lil bit newer range rovers around 98" thru 04" ish? thanks

Have the english ever made a reliable car?:goof

My wife's boss got rid of his Range Rover because it was always in the shop, it was a newer one.

Price? I've heard they are known to have a bunch of mechanical / electrical problems.

Better option would be a 91 - 93 Land Cruiser

The buick derived rover v8 is difficult to work on in that platform, slow, and horrendous on gas.

A car like that, much less an ENGLISH made car like that is going to likely have a host of "little things" wrong with it.

Otherwise, it's a pretty darn good vehicle if you like to off-road.

Nothing but headaches! My good friend owns one and he has nothing but problems with his. We have four customers at my shop that visit often with issues ranging from electrical to overheating issues ( head gaskets) and suspension problems. IMHO STAY AWAY! No matter how good the deal is.
+1 on the Land Cruiser. Great engines and transmissions/AWD systems. Just as good off road but just as crappy gas mileage.

I would avoid those, like 180 hp and 15 mpg, lol

That engine had head gasket issues when it was a Buick engine.

Yea my friends is a 98 I think and he just found out his head gaskets are toast. It's the 3.9 V8. They all suck! With maybe the HSE Rover being the good one. That one still has issues.

AVOID THESE TRUCKS AT ALL COSTS! Haha.

^ HAHAHA! That's a good one and a shitty one at the same time. It's gotta be a bitch to push that heavy ass tank. And their AWD. Talk about breaking your back.

I have a buddy of mine that used to work at a Land Rover dealer, he said after 50,000 miles, they are junk.

Stay away from that thing like the plague. There's a reason you don't see very many around anymore.

There great...until they're about 5 years old or so...then the probs begin. Brother is driving an older one until his new GC comes in...
