satellite/cable ????

Ok so I'm on my phone up in Florence wi. So bare with me here.
I have a dish at home that is not being used and was just wondering
If I could buy a box to hook it up to and get more than 6 channels (wich 2 are the same) but also NOT have a monthly bill... Like would it work the same as the antenna that we have now? But give us more and more clear viewing?

What are my options?

Satellite used to be easy to hack emulate but that was a long time ago. It was a lot easier when you had a hacked first or seconded gen box with card. I have had no luck with the boxes that have been out over the last 5 years

You'd still have to pay for the box, but it should work assuming the dish and the box are compatible. Keep in mind though, all of your local channels up there would appear as the local channels from where ever your service is being charged to.

I know if you have direct tv at home and get an additional room added to your house for $5 you can take box/card and plug it into any direct tv dish that is aimed right and use said box. Locals will be your home area tho.
