Well seems everyone is getting something new. I guess I will start looking. I have it down to 3 choices.....tough decision though.

1. 99 Nassau blue C5 coupe 6 speed twin turbo 780rwhp
2. 04 SVT Cobra Mystichrome vert. It is stock right now
3. 70-72 Chevelle Big block 4 speed

I miss my 70 SS a lot, but do I want something to look at more than drive and will hold value or a fun to drive I don't give a shit if I get caught in a downpour car.:confused

Old Skool all the way Joe!! Build an LSX and turbo that! Do something more unique like a 67 Nova with with a Tremec, LSX with turbo, lowered with hotchkis parts, discs, 17" wheels with good tires etc.

nope, I am a purist with muscle cars. Putting an LSX in an old muscle car is a sin to me. That is kind of why I sold my 70. Too far from factory with the aftermarket block, tremec tko.

Do you want a driver or museum piece to look at? It's apples to oranges really. I think the C5 is a pretty good value for the money, not sure if i would buy one already built up like that though. Heck, you can find c6's for 25k these days.

If u are looking to hold value more I would say option 3.

If your a purist the mystic cobra WILL hold its value. Those are rare and just get yourself a blower pulley for it and keep the stock one. Just keep the stock stuff that everybody throws away if you make changes to it.

I see on enough forums already where guys are looking for a mystic just think in 20 years.

I love the C5's and would like to get one but in reality there as common as fox bodies nowadays.

I'd say Cobra if you want a good driver, C5 if you don't like verts like me.

#2 and enjoy it Joe.

Don't invest but a small chunk of change in it and just enjoy the top down atmosphere. I'd venture to guess that as cool as the vette is, it's too "modded up" to trust the work that someone else did previously. It might be perfect, but you'll be pissed the second it isn't.

So take the cobra, and just enjoy it and drive the shit out of it.

that's just what i would do :) haha

If you like stock stuff then a 421 SD Poncho Catalina with a 4-speed and 4.88s should work

probably leaning the SVT. I really want a vert and would keep the stock eaton and just pulley it, tune and exhaust. Drive it and have fun. There is a real nice 20,000 mi car in Chicago.

1- Has the most speed currently, but the old man factor is still there. Plus the added touches in the 2000+ c5 make it look better IMO.

2-Cant go wrong with a Cobra....But do you want a Vert? Do you like convertables? The Modding possibilities are endless.......But do you like that color?

3- Old School Muscle power and Beauty.....But Will not be as versitile as the other 2. Cant road course it, Not the greatest long distance cruiser compaered to others.

All 3 sound like great cars......The big question is WHAT DO YOU WANT TO DO?

Cruise? Chevelle

Drag Race at GLD? Toss up Between Vet and Termy

Fuck aound on Street? Termy then Vet close second

I wish I had your problem!! :rolf

Mystichrome isn't that rare for a Terminator. As a matter of fact, on '04 verts it was the most common color. Yes, there were even more Mystichrome verts than black ones. And I'd hate to have to try and match paint in the event of some mishap. By all means get a Termy Cobra, but don't just buy it because you think the paint code is rare. If you want rare, get Competition Orange. Only 72 verts made in that color...

I really do want a vert/removable top, that is 50% why I am not leaning old school muscle.

A Vert in Wisconsin is like buying a snowboard in New Mexico....you'll have the top down a dozen times a summer so why bother? I have actually been seeing the prices of 60s Vettes coming down slowly too. What about a 327 4-speed 67 Sting Ray coupe? Silver with red interior...timeless design Vette, the small block cars drive nice and have plenty of power. Plus if in a few years when the market rebounds you will be in a position to make some nice Ching on it if you sell it. Vettes are easy sells to the Tommy Bahamas gold chainers anyways

I will say, I drive the convertible Z28 more than the T/A by 10:1 at least. Now, part of that is the fact that I just enjoy the Camaro without worries like I do with the T/A... Just too much time and money in the T/A to flog it daily.

There is something really different about top-down driving though... I don't think I will ever not own a convertible from now on.

I hear Kia's are pretty good cars nowadays. But I'd get the Cobra....put the top down when it's nice, still able to drive if it gets bad....still a great car.

I say cobra . Just hope in and go. It is un molested and some simple bolt ons when you are feeling board with the stock power level.

Here's a better one for you Joe. Turn it into the super stock with cheater slicks. 1963 Catalina, ready to fly with the 421 and 4 speed.

The is something fun about top down on a summer night...not a bad ride from a brewer game.

As far as holding value, I don't think any of the newer stuff will do a great job for as long as you own your cars Joe...I mean, if you find an unbeatable deal, then by all means. But let's face it Joe...you hold your cars for maybe 2, maybe 3 years at most? If you hold onto a termy for 15 years, you might see that it held it's value...but even then, in two or three years until you get another itch, it's not like any of the cars you're looking at will depreciate markedly.

Newer cars are easier to drive and live with...long cruises aren't as taxing as with some older cars. But then again, nothing beats driving into a cruise spot with a classic old muscle car either.

Here's my suggestion: Let's face it...muscle car prices are pretty decent. There are a lot of good deals out there waiting to be found, and some people NEED to sell, rather than want to sell...

Buy an old muscle car...because in two-three years when you get the itch, prices will LIKELY have stabilized, if not began to creep, if not jump back up. Keep it near stock, pic something that's nice to drive, and have fun.

It might net you a pretty penny and you'll have a cool car for the time being.
