I like most country. Currently Sugarland and The Zac Brown band, overall Alabama. Favorite song? Right now probably Toby Keith Bullets in the Gun, maybe Life in a Northern Town by Sugarland Little Big Town and jake Owen.

I'm a casual country fan, but there are some artists I like a lot. I too like the older stuff more than the newer pickup truck pop that's come out in the last 20 some years. I've been on a Dwight Yoakam kick lately. It's hard to pick a single song, but his greatest hits album is a really good collection.

Depends how oldschool you want to go.

I prefer "outlaw country" David Allen Coe and Charlie Daniels and the like, the less politically correct the better.. Jerry Reed is also good (but maybe a little hokie). Hank, Hank Jr, and Hank III (although he gets outside of country sometimes). Cash is essential.

If you want to go a little newer, you've got your George Jones, older Garth etc. Unfortunately the newer you go, it goes downhill. Jason Aldean is an exception, as is Jamey Johnson. btw, I have a hard time considering many non-American (read: keith urban) artists "true country". I know, das racist.
