View Full Version : How much would I get...

For my old 1999 Grand Am GT? I sold it to a friend, and without going into details, now have it back. I have no use for it, except for the fact since sold, it's been pretty much in another accident and probably no one would want it. Also has a lot of electrical problems. So I was either going to part it out on some Grand Am forums, or scrap the car. I figured I can make a good $300 to $400 parting it out, due to the crap people in the lame Grand Am world look for. So how much would I get for scrap for it? Or should I Craigslist it and call and see what happens? It still runs and drives.

Now would be the time to sell it for a "winter beater" assuming the heat and radio works. Just remember to write up a bill of sale.

The only problem is the electrical is the front end is fucked. Neither of the headlights work, and I tried to rewire them and that didn't sold the problem, and fuses aren't the issure either. Should I just sell it as is and tell them the headlights are fucked? It's got fairly new tires on it too.

Try it for a week or two. If it doesn't sell, part out a few good things before it gets too cold. Or grab what you want and junk it.

I'll give you 300 for it pending a picture to show it has 4 wheels and drives...

How did you end up with it again?

I'd rather not get into it. I can assure there are no liens on the title. Who ever would get this would have no problem getting it registered.

Headlights, if you don't care about the car, are as easy as a toggle switch and some speaker wire (assuming the bulbs are good)

the redneck in me would just mount some KC's on the hood and call it good :D ... honestly tho deggy i'd think you could get more than 3-400 parting it out but i think it'd sell complete just fine too. Anything that new below a grand goes pretty quick

pricing out a junkyard trans, they go for anywhere from $100 at a u-pull type place, to $350 for one with "low miles" with a 30 day warranty.

Why don't you post up some pics of the above mentioned damage and whatever else you think people should know. Then Im sure people could help you get a better idea. :thumbsup

I'd just sell it as is and be done with it. For that cheap surely someone will buy it as a beater and maybe want to put a little work into it to get it right. Not sure what the demand is like for those GA's, but parting out takes some time, parts lay around and it takes longer to get the money even if it's more than selling it whole would be. More hassle than it's worth unless it's a car that has alot of desireable (and/or pricey) parts, IMO.
