WTF!? i though there were no diesels in 99-00 until the d-max came about in '01?

Watch this vid from '99 and shoot to 4:20 where that is very much that anemic turd sitting in a GMT800 chassis:confused

In 99 and 2000 the 2500 and 3500 still came in the old body style. I bet the diesels they said were available, but did not show a pic of, were the classic body. Fire wall looks different too. I know you could get a 3/4 or 1 ton in new body style but the diesels I think were still the classic.

i know in the late 90's 1500 you could get a 6.5. i've seen a few of them lately. i knew that 2500 and 3500's were still classic body style from 99-01.

The 6.5 lagged around until like 2005 in the Hummer H1. I'm sure there were a few of the NBS trucks that got it but it couldn't have been that many.

In fairness, though not a terrific diesel at the end, it wasn't as horridly underpowered as they once were. Not uncompetitive power/torque. Not a 5.9 or 7.3.

And much better than the old 6.2's anyday of the week.

There are guys on the diesel forums that change out the pistons to drop the compression down to where the DMAX is, then crank the boost up and make some good power with them. The problem at the point seems to be the tuning, not many places can tune them. Would be interesting to see someone try to addapt the DMAX computer to run a 6.5 kind of like people are doing now using the LS1 computers to run LT1 and TPI engines

6.5s can make 500hp...if you want to stick 20 grand into them lol

the 2500 and 3500 in '99 and '00 were the "classic" body style as stated, and the 6.5 came in them still, pretty common to see around
