Hey guys,

My boss is a Shriner and I asked him what made him want to get interested in it. After I spoke with him he asked if I would ever be interested in becoming a mason... I do and I don't. Are any of you masons or shriners? Pros/Cons? Thanks!

Who would admit it? Isn't there some kind of code or something.

You can talk about being a free mason. I have a good friend who is just getting into it. You can't talk about specific things. But admitting to be a freemason is not a rule of any sort. I'm hoping to get sponsored by my buddy. Believe it or not the freemasons have done a ton for this country.

That's what has me interested. A lot of good guys in the worlds and in this countries history have been freemasons. I guess i'm not too sure what it's all about though.

I've been interested in this too, but the financial obligations and some of the rules have me wondering.

LOL, My grandfather was a mason, had a baddass ring, my grandma sold it for peanuts, she didn't know anything about it. Turns out he was one of the higher-ups, wish I had the ring, It's one of those show up with the ring and they are like where did you get THAT? Almost get you in just for having the ring......

Shiner's build neat mini cars and drive them around at parades. That's about all I know about them.

My grandfather was a Mason...he enjoyed it tremendously but rarely spoke of its specifics...

got an uncle whose a mason never really asked him about it though, hes got a nice ring too...got to go to the temple once, as they took a bunch of us on a baseball outing...most of the kids that went were in boy scouts and obviously were family. i kinda freaked out as i was stoned out of my mind when at the temple, not a place to be when your ripped. but that was like 10 years ago

So ya pour concrete and go to bars and hangout after work?...Sounds like almost all my buds that work at Oostburg Concrete or Van Wyk's

Its problably like a internal thing on who gets to build in the city and who doesnt. Not in the public forum of a Union though.

so did you end up following through with it? Great group of people who do a lot of charitable work. Glad I made the commitment.

There's a guy at my work who's the head of the West Bend lodge. He talks to me about it quiet a bit, I have attended a few of their charity fundraisers. He loves it, but he's that type of guy that always needs the social acceptance of others to make himself happy. It seems like a very close knit group though, and as others have said, are always doing stuff for charity. I know if you're "in", you get a lot of perks from fellow masons. Shriners are just the upper order of Mason's from what he says.

Freemasonry is like having a bank account with super high interest. If you put time in you get a lot back.

Not all masons are shriners but all shriners are masons. The shrine from my understanding is more for fun were as masonry is more person building.

You can find a lot of stuff online about it. Just stay away from the whacko websites dealing with conspiracy theory and all that.
