sounds badass......I remember driving our hmmwv in the 'stan full throttle across a gravel lot with a lot of bumps and hills and I thought my teeth were going to fall out of my skull. Then again....I did bring it upon myself

Thought humvee's were a thing of the past!?! I thought the trend was going towards bomb blast deflection with all of the v-hull designs and no flat sides?

Hell, I'll take protection over a smooth ride. But both is sweet as hell.

There are many MANY HMMWV's in theater and simply scrapping them after putting so much money in up-armoring would be very wasteful. The Marines showed an interest in an upgrade rather than a completely new vehicle. I can't speak to specific details of our work but they will have many options available to them moving forward.

The HMMWV isn't going anywhere any time soon. They are still MRAP's but it would take YEARS and I mean alot before the army would be fully fielded. MRAPs are also I think 4x the cost of a HWMMV? I haven't read anything yet that says the army is completely phasing out HMMWVs. What I think is awesome is how Oshkosh is working on everyone elses shit now too. I love working with those contractors, hell they're even working on Stewart and Stevensons MTV/LMTV platform too. :rolf

Also if you read towards the bottom Oshkosh offers a V bottom on the HMMWV now too.

3 variants the 6.2 N/A, 6.5 N/A, and 6.5T. I've dealt with alota crap on them and I can say the 6.5T's had the least issues. So I'd say they're far from piles of fuck.

Agreed, The 6.5 N/A was by far the worst. No power and it was a pain to work on. Glow plug boxes burning out all the time, flywheels coming apart, injection timing going to hell either because of the pump or one of the other problems the system had....

The 6.5 TD was the newest version and seemed to have alot of the bugs worked out compared to the N/A versions.
