ACR viper looks like she could really rip in the twisties. Could use a different color scheme tho.

Its for dealer demos. I went one year (when the crossfire first came out). They set up a "track" on a large parking lot or runway.

You get a card that allows you to drive one sports car (likely the viper) and one car to compare (likely a corvette, new camaro, ect). They also usually let you drive all the suv's and other non-cool cars.

After you are done driving, they have wine tasteing.

I'm not really sure how you get invited. My dad got me in from one of his car dealer buddies (I think it was hub south on hwy 100 that since closed).

Why would they bother with the Viper? Wasn't production done this summer?

Actually, I bet the test drive car is their new challenger vs. the mustang and camaro.

Isn't the challenger the slowest, worst handling and most expensive of the bunch? They must have damn good salesmen there...

That it is. It's also the only one that don't come with a manual transmission option...

Typical viper ACR with further enhancements for downforce and a tad bit of weight reduction, plus the addition of 40hp for 640 total. Beat the laguna seca record holding regular viper ACR by almost 4 seconds/lap.

That's what they call "irrefutable proof" :rolf

But in terms of the challenger, the 11 models will be improved...

the only thing I don't like about the 08+ is the steering wheel.

Manual option was I believe a 2010 or 2011 option. Previous years were all auto's

Manual option was I believe a 2010 or 2011 option. Previous years were all auto'sBZZZT. WRONG!

2008 was the first year of the challenger and all of the 2500 they made were both SRT's and auto's...with the release of the 2009 R/T manuals were offered from the get go as well as being offered for that model year SRT.

edit:

2009 R/T manual for sale:

I found out today that they are having an SRT track day at Road America next week.

Also, yeah, you can get the Challenger in a Manual.

:rolfQFT! Minus the manual trans and nav, that interior pic looks exactly like the v6 300c I rented. Sweet pony car Chrysler, I'll totally run out and spend $40k on one of these. Ha!

So then equipped similarly, they should look the exact same?

Those "Can you spot the differences" games must have flumoxed you guys as kids...hell, as adults even :rolf

They do look similar...the obvious locations of the air ducts and use of the same (hideous) steering wheel does create very strong similarity, especially since this isn't the type of steering wheel I'd want in my pony car.

While I think it's fair to call the two similar; but "exactly like?" Eh....:durr

In defense of the challenger's interior though, it's obvious they've used improved material that gives off less sheen, looks like better grain/tack...and from the ones I've been in, this has been true. I think a fair criticism would be the monotonous color...it might improve the look to break up the drab black/grey with perhaps a little more color.

Personally I like understated style in the interior simply because they age the best...look at some outlandish styled interiors from the late 50's/early 60's...perhaps they struck people as stylish then, but they look gaudy now.

Aside from the steering wheel though, what's offensive about the challenger interior? I mean, I understand I'm asking for the opinions of guys who probably thought the swoopy gothic pontiac interiors looked good, or that the interior of the corvette was fitting of a "world class" automobile :D
