i would think they would be able to do that from a chopper just like when they work on power lines from a chopper... but then again im sure whith whatever they are doing it probably takes a while.. and would be hard to keep a chopper steady for that long...

Can you imagine how tired you would be from climbing? It would probably take me a couple days just to get up there!

EDIT: One of the comments said "I would bring a wing suit and parachute" lol... that would probably be the best way to get down.

ha ha ha...I thought "what are you fools talking about..." lol "there is an amount I'd do that job for..."

Then I saw the vid and climb. Holly shit!

I think it probably looked worse with the aggressive curvature due to the curve of the lens, which makes you feel higher...but still...that was crazy climbing.

EDIT: I felt sick everytime he took off the safety hook...

He wasn't using a safety hook. That was for the tool bag. They were climbing without using safety gear it said. Thats what really makes it nuts!

What happens when you get to the top and you feel like your stomach is going to drop out of your ass from the wings and beer you has last night?

You just shit your pants and live with it I guess. Your climbing partner will laugh his ass of though as long as you don't shit on him. :rolf:rolf:rolf

I cant believe they dont have a saftey harness hooked on at all times. There has to be a way to have a line going down and clip yourself in after you get off the elevator. Kind of like those harnesses for deer stands where you clip in at the bottom of the tree.

Winds do increase with height since there is no friction with the earth's surface and features to slow it down...becomes less gusty but higher sustained speeds.

But at height it doesn't necessarily mean it's crazy....winds aloft forcast for tomorrow:

In greenbay, one of the forcasting areas b/w 4 in the morning until 1 in the afternoon for 9/18:

@ 3000 above sea level: 14 kts (approx height they were)
@ 6000: 29kts
@9000: 43kts
@12000: 54kts
@ 18000: 62kts
@ 24000: 73kts

I'm sure they pay attention to the winds aloft forcast and probably have some wind speed equipment that they can look at before the climb.......

Ummm, how do they get down? It would be much easier if they had parachutes and just jumped when they were done. Plus if they accidentally fell at any point, just pull your chute.
