I thought the 645 was the new M5. But I bet that engine will find its way there.

Very nice power. Styling sucks. If they could improve the looks I think more than just the yupies would go for them. VERY over priced also. But if its your thing go for it. For that price I would have a Viper and kick its ass Rick

ummm... you'd lose in the viper. The new M5 is faster and boasts 1.3g's on a skidpad.

There isn't much under 100k that'll beat this thing, ugly or not.
I dunno about overpriced. It's fast, carries 5 people fast and it'll pretty much take you there, if you don't feel like driving. The really cool part is if you have any passengers they can all give the finger to the Ferrari that they're passing up @ 150mph.

I'm not all that big into german over-engineering, but credit's due here.
That SL65 isn't aimed at the new m5. It's also almost 100k MORE expensive.
The e55 is aimed right at it and quite frankly, fails to deliver. Slower, softer and not as capable.

haha - at night, when you get 0wn3d by the M, you'll think a wicked STi just punk'd yo ass.

That car is a car in the market for the rich middle aged guy that likes a sedan with some power. You can't put 4 pepole in the viper and go for a road trip. Even 2 pepole would be a pain in the ass with lugagge in the viper. The BMW can be driven year round and still probably spank a viper.

Have you guys ever driven one or just read about them. I drove the last edition m-5. The seats are so firm it is like sitting on a boat cushion in a row boat. The ride is sooo jarring it will shake you fillins out on anything but a smooth road. as far as beating the viper I will still drive the viper and buy a 4 door sedan for trips because you would not want to take a trip in the m-5. And the looks are enough to make you not want to be seen in it. I do not know why they make a car with that kind of motor and super stiff handling and the looks are butt ulgy. Can you tell I do not care for BMWs. Just take one for a drive. Rick

I've driven the 540 Msport and thought it was a great time...even the 4.4 had a ton of power, and it had the M's wheels/tires/suspension with the six speed tranny.

As far as a likely 4000lbs car with 507hp car beating a 3200lbs car with 500hp, I don't know. I'll have to wait and see it I guess.

My dad is one of those people with some disposeable income, he is a 52 year old dentist, and I am the only one of four still living with him.

If you like the M5 drivetrain, but arent too keen on the four doors + excruciatingly ugly styling, just wait for the M6 coupe... :cool2:

That is by far the best looking car to come from the Chris Bangle design era.

Note to self---try to convince dad to scrap 645 idea and consider M5 v10 instead, he will probably wait a year to find one with 30k on it because bimmer value drops like stone after initial sale---
