I'm putting together a fresh engine for the Saleen. It's a completely stock rebuild so the car goes back to it's original status - or as close as possible - as when it left Saleen back in '89.

My question has to do with the lifters. Is that something that most of you replace? Or can the old ones be cleaned and re-used?

I had the original set in a bin and marked them for location from front to rear. But over time, they got jossled around and who knows which one went where. Does it matter too much?

TIA for your input.

If they are a good lifter, I see no reason why you couldn't reuse them. Like you said it's pretty much going to be a stock motor, I would run them.

It is cheap insurance to replace.
