It only goes as fast as you tell it to go. With that said, first gear will take you to about 90, it will pick the tire up anywhere in between if you want it to:thumbsup

The r1s are actually really tame unless you twist your wrist hard. Don't get me wrong, they are fast as hell. My fiancé rode my old 02 a bunch her first year ever riding and was fine. Good luck with the sale of that beautiful bike!

Yeah, it is very controllable, the power band is a lot more linear than a 600 is. I absolutely love the mid range power the 1000 has though, you can tell it just wants to get up and go from almost any rpm. Coming onto the power at 10k on a 600 is fun though too:goof
