Engine & Wheels Wanted

I'm trying to put together a first car for my Daughter and am looking for a motor and possibly different wheels. (it's got factory fuglies)

The car is a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire GT automatic with A/C, P/S, P/B, Power everything. I'm pretty sure it's a 2.2 but I do body work not engines. Willing to pay for installation & having it dialed in.

Not sure of interchangability from year to year but on a tight budget. Also needs to be reliable. (prefer low miles)

Correction... The engine is a 2.4 ltr. And I prefer '04 or newer engine.

You can find 100's of rim n tire combos for that thing on CL. The factory "GT" alloy rims are decent, or the 16" alloys of the the newer cav's should also fit.

Just an FYI,

2002 was the last year of 2.4s in J-cars. Even some 2002s already had the Ecotec. Do a search on www.car-part.com to get a good idea on interchangability.

Thanks everyone for all your help on this... I located a 2.4 motor in Necedah from an '02 with 72K on it and it does have a 6 mo. limited waranty. It's already out of the car and crated so I'm gonna go get it in the morning. It also comes with the ECM equipment (both boxes) for a wopping $425.00

I found a new aftermarket front fender for $28.50 and a front side marker light for $15.00

That will clean me out for a few weeks but, still wanting the wheels and tires in the very near future. I also have to get a few other items for it just to do the paint work and motor swap.

Not looking like I'm gonna reach my Sept. 13th goal for her 16th Birthday. :(
