Looking for two TI 83 or TI 83 plus graphing calculators. Both the kids need one for school this year. I swear these schools think all parents are loaded with cash! Anyone have a good one they would sell?

I think I might eve have 2 left over from when I was in HS. Let me check through my stuff, I had two TI-83+, they were like $85 new.

if they are going to any kind of advanced math later on i'd go straight to a ti-89 ... i've had mine 13 years now and use it every day at work.

The TI89 is worth every penny. I actually have two TI89's! There is a huge difference between the TI89 and models below it.

only problem is the school actually requires the 83 or 83+....dont know why.

You can do certian functions with the 89 that they might not want the students using. I think I have an 83 somewhere... I'll take a peek and see if I can find it...

I loved the 89. Solve for variable, x... thank you TI.

^^when I was in hs, the first thing any of the "techy" kids did was learn the basics of the programming language the calcs use (similar to pasqal i think). We could write custom equation programs for whatever we were doing in class, then just plug in the numbers come test time.

Like someone mentioned, some teachers/profs don't allow ti89's, especially for tests. I knew some profs that made people take exams with no calc, with problems that def needed one...

The 83 is easier to start out with. And the professor will have the entire class follow along with how to perform a task, such as graph functions, or creating a quadratic equation program.

I prefer to use the 83, just seems to be easier to do the majority of my work.
