I know its not a very liked vehicle, so hate away. Its a blast to drive, and I got it dirt cheap so no complaints from this end. Will probably lower it tint the windows and hids, I have the bike for a toy...

I would tint the windows to make sure no one sees you are driving it!!:rolf

Does it have enough cargo capacity to deliver a 35 gallon aquarium to Pewaukee?

Tint the windows really dark so no one can see that it's you that is driving it.

Nothing wrong with it...practical cars are exactly that, practical. With a car like this you don't bitch as much nor as loudly about gas prices...or even think twice about taking a road trip.

Honestly, never got the "embarrassed-to-be-seen-driving" thing...sure, tinted the windows in the insight, but not for any reason other than to keep the interior more comfortable, lol.

Hell, the car I'm leaning toward is probably twice as "bad" as that, lol. Hell, I'm also considering a smart car, lol....

I'd buy one............

Buddy of mine has like 60k on it and pulls his 16' ft boat all over with plenty of Go and Braking power. Actually this car is perfect for a Family or daily driver, built by toyota so you know it will last.

Eric how much did you get it for ?

yea gandy had one of them WTF happened to him i went to school with the goof ball. he put an underbody kit inside his and underneath it. then he put a greddy exhaust on it lol. thought he got rid of that thing for a jeep. i'de rock on of the newer xb's didn't like the older style much but they are acually fun to drive kinda like a top heavy go kart. drop that bisch and it'll handle better

Really?

hrsp: its a Scion xB

Haha, no need to go fast in a tipped over refrigerator. It has a ton of cargo space, gets great fuel economy, and its a toyota :) Never thought I would be into the import thing as I am now, but after GM tanking I figured I could open my horizons a bit.

PV, what are you looking at getting?
Brad, I paid less then 10 for it :)

There is a girl at work that bought one new. She likes it because "it looks cool" but she said it's a piece of shit, slow, handles like her Mom's QX56, and only gets good gas mileage if you drive like there is an egg under the accelerator. She bought snow tires for it because it got stuck in the parking lot. She's going to replace it with a used 370Z because she said that the space inside is about as useful as in the xB.

My stepdaughter has a first gen xB. I used it once to do some chasing around in Waukesha. They are quite zippy and fun to drive. I've always joked about putting a couple of giant foam bread slices on the roof, but they really are a great car. The Previa always reminded me of a rolling suppository. Paint it white and hang a short bit of clothes line from the rear bumper and it could be a giant tampon.

A Patriot/Caliber/Compass since all can be had w/ AWD, and since they're so damn cheap even with very few miles...that's the advantage of buying a car no one really wants, lol...

...but that's for another thread :thumbsup

I think she is wrong, mine is a 5 spd and for being the size it is with a 4 banger it moves out just fine. Girls can't drive and this is a perfect example :rolf

I took the onramp on national at 40 trying to tip it over and it stayed planted, so not sure why she is complaining about handeling. Probably cause she is a girl and complaining is what she does best? The fuel tank is tiny, thats my only complaint thus far. I will let you know what kinda fuel mileage I'm getting once I fill up for the 2nd time. It claims my average on the dash is 25 and I've been doing mostly city driving, if thats what its actually getting I'm excited to see what it will do hwy ( back and forth to work is 26 miles each way ). I really like it thus far, already stuffed a few motorcycle ramps and parts in the back that would have never fit into my bonneville.

So to recap: Hauls tons of stuff, gets great mileage, Toyoda build quality, 5-speed, and it handles ok / moves out respectably. 30k mile car for less than $10k, We should be lining up for these. I'll take mine in black.

I'm a bigger fan of the first gen, uglier and better gas mileage. How is wind noise in those things, they are about as aerodynamic as a brick?

Just a quick search of caranddriver.com shows it has a cd of 0.32, frontal area of 29.0 ft^2 for a cda of 9.3ft^2...which per wiki says places it around the crown vic, caprice wagon, and less than the ford escape, jeep grand cherokee.

Also per CD...0-60 in 7.8 seconds w/ 5 speed, 1/4 mile in 16.0 @ 87mph. For a good size, roomy, box that is rated for 22/28 city/hwy per the new rating system, this is not too bad at all.

Roadholding was rated at 0.81 G's, the EXACT same as a QX56.....NOT (0.71 fwiw).

Again, good kill on the toaster :thumbsup

I was just looking at one the other day... trade for the tC? I like the xB better... until I can buy my FIAT...

EDIT: For the record I had the papers signed on a Soul (actually had the thing for a couple days) before I ended up with the tC. They couldn't get me good financing on the Soul.

First 310 mile tank, gas light popped on and I drove another 10 miles and it only took a pinch over 11 gallons. Thats my first complaint, the gas tank is too small.

That being said, with mostly city, some highway driving, and not taking it easy it pulled 28 mpg. Way better then I expected with as much city driving I did this weekend.

As far old vs new, the new one is much quieter and supposedly has a bit more usable interior space. I love this thing, needs to be dropped

Prince, good post. I was also concerned about cross winds on the expressway especially. I used to drive a box truck for work and you could really tell a difference when you had a large load versus a small one on windy days up and down 90. My guess is they get blown around pretty good.

I just took one of those in on trade on Monday. That one is an 04 thought. The previous owner replace the transmission on it last year, and he traded it in with the motor knocking with only 109k miles on it. Hopefully he just had a bad one. Good luck with your new ride!!
