Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the GT500 Supercharged. The Z28 will compete with this model if I am not mistaken

Exactly, I'm tired of these youtube video's of GT500s in a side by side test against a 2010 Camaro SS, and the gloat along with it. And now they got the 2011 Mustang GT doing the same thing. Impressive car, but come on, wait until the 2011 Camaro SS comes out before you start doing test with obvious improved peformance and numbers. Go Ford.

The GT500 got an aluminum block for 2011, so it lost some weight (about 100 lbs off the nose) and another 10hp bump to 550hp. (This is still with the conventional rotored Eaton roots blower, by-the-way.) I imagine this was an incremental step for Ford to ready themselves for the Z/28. Ford will probably wait for the debut of the Z and them announce that the next version of the GT500 will be coming with the TVS blower and 575+hp. Always gotta try and one-up the competition, don't-cha-know...;)

Well considering the current SS can reach over 40K in its current form ad the addition of a LSA variant or LS9 engine and the price is going to skyrocket. I dont see this car being under 50K. Its going to be priced competitvly with the GT500 is my guess. I am a GM person 100% but the LSA engine is a joke, why a company would build a supercharged engine with powdered metal rods and cast pistons is beyond me. They need to either spend the extra few bucks at the production level and put forged hard parts in it or drop the nasty properly built LS9 in there.

I guess either way I wouldnt buy one though. Although they look cool from the front they look somewhat unfinnished from the side and rear, havent grown on me. Also there heavy as hell and have horrible blind spots.

It's always been GM fanboys spouting off that Mustang guys needed blowers to keep up, and now it seems the tide has changed, that's the point I was trying to make.

But but but you've got .4 more liters than last year and more cams/valves! It's just not fair!

This new car's soul purpose is just to make something on par with the GT500 for HP/performance since the Corvette is not really in the same league and handily destroys it in base model trim... So more of an apples to apples story now. Should be cool, but yeah id expect it to cost no less than 50'gs loaded up. This car has been in the making for 2 years now, so to say it in responsce to the 5.0L is incorrect. The current N/A SS is still more than a formidable opponent yet.

According to Ford's website a GT500 starts at $49,500, so if the Z28 is built to compete with the GT500 it's spot on for price point. I'd be willing to bet it gets the detuned engine like the CTS-V got.

It will be the same LSA thats in the CTS-V. It is only a couple hundred bucks away (for tune) from making 500 to the wheels w/o even so much as an intake!

As far as capability in stock form goes though, you have to hand it to ford. The engine in the GT500 has much more to offer. Cast hard parts in a 50K+ Factory forced induction setup is pretty pathetic. Spend the extra bucks at production GM, your customers will pay it! :stare

If it comes with a 5/100k warranty... its plenty durable then in stock configuration. durability for more hp beyond that, why should they be concerned? its not a warranty issue at that point is it? seeing as modification would be needed. Yes Ford has a more devoted motorsports hi/po engine team than GM. Your avg asshole who buys a 50k car regardless of the brand is NOT buying it for the forged internals, nor would they give a rip... they buy it because they can.

wrong. plenty of people these days mod the piss out of their cars. just look at how many GT500 owners swap in a bigger blower and make upwards of 700rwhp on the stock longblock. no way you'll be able to do that with the lsa motor. i'm all for competition between the big 3 to keep pushing the limits of power with these cars. nothing 'assholish' about being able to buy a $50k car, and wanting to mod it

Yeah judging by your list of rides you are in the minority that would be able to pull off pissing another 15k into a 50k car. Been there done that with a 2010 Camaro and stuck about 2gs into a 40k car and got to 500 whp and realized this is kinda gay... 500 rwhp isn't all that exciting in 4klb car. I'd personally have no qualms leaning on an LSA to 850 rwhp and it
will live out it's useful life just fine. The Heaton would would be in the garbage first thing however.

Looks like a nice car.

I personally like NA cars. A lot less heat, less weight.

These upcoming battery cars are the ones to watch - They make a lot of power.
