Buddy gave me a push mower with a small briggs and stratton motor on it. He painted it so I couldn't find any numbers on the block. But he did tape off a sticker on the side that had:

3bsxs.1581vg 275738

The problem with it is he said a spring is missing off the carb. I guess there's supposed to be two? The mower starts but idles real shitty. You can open the carb up and it winds up but that's about it. I tried googling around for a picture of the carb linkage but haven't had much luck.

Here are the specific springs:

You could order them through partstree or get the part # from there and google it or ebay it. I would also replace the diaphragm on that carb as well 795083.

I tried rigging the one spring that is there to keep the throttle open. It winds up but once you start mowing or moving the thing it kinda bogs and revs randomly.

I've got like 4 other junk mowers that were in hte basement of the place I'm at. I'm wondering if I can get a pic or diagram of what the carb linkage is supposed to look like I could probably rig it up.

Could just get the right ones so your not having to put a new motor on it instead:goof

Im sure there are dealer in the area you can take the above part #s to and they may actually stock them!

Ok so one of the mowers here is a 3.5 briggs with an identical carb. Well looking at least any differences carb wise with a 4.75hp to a 3.5hp? Also I pulled the plug which was black and it looks like there's oil in the cylinder, well on the plug threads at least. But then again it had just stalled so it may be fuel too.

If the machone gets. Tipped to the wrong side oil will run into the carb then into the cylinder. The springs should be the same. However these are probably plastic carbs so they will be jetted different inside and these carbs u can't change any of the settings
