Some pics from Great Lakes today with Bob Bode, and little Bobby in his jr dragster. He's only 8 yrs old and the kid is a brilliant drag racer, a chip off the ol block. I'm pretty certian that one day he'll be behind the wheel of a fuel funny car in the NHRA.

cool stuff...what IS the actual performance of those things? Are their limitations based on age/wt?

My dad and I were talking about these things at the track on tuesday and I told him I'd never forgive him for not getting me one of these when I was a kid, lol.

They regulate the speeds by driver age. The youngest drivers are 8 yrs old and are limited to a 12.90 car (1/8th mile) but he still reaches speeds of
50+ mph in the 1/8th. I'm thinkin damn that's pretty fast for an 8 yr old.

As you get older your car can get faster, the quickest car I saw today was an 8.30 car. In fact there was a BCM member helping with that car, guy named Paul with a wicked red 8 second Camaro built by OTE.

These jr's are actually pretty cool, I'm very impressed. They run on alcohol and they're pretty trick. Way better than the big wheel I was driving as a kid.

There were at least seven young girls driving jrs yesterday, I thought how cool that so many females are interested in drag racing.

You guys really need to come and watch a race! Especially when Bob Bode is there. Bob and his crew are the gratest people to meet.

Thanks man! I'm glad we met you guys too.
Seems most of the people there are friendly and helpful, it's nice to have help when you're new at it and don't know what your doing, like us...

I'm going to plan on coming down for the nitrous brawl, I'll see you there.

LIZMO, I really don't know what these things cost, but I will say they don't look cheap. If I had to guess I'd say Bobbys car cost somewhere around $3500 to build. Are they safe? yeah I'd say they're safe. Bobby is strapped in to the cage with a shoulder and lap harness and arm restraints, just like a real race car.
