Getting your first 13.99 helmet warning is neat, seeing your first 12.99 is better, better will be a 11.50 bar requirment :) Almost there!

My goal in life is lowest ET under 149mph safety requirments (no open beer in car).

Yes, it is.

the motor itself is bone stock but he has it turbo'd. Normally its a N/A motor, which makes it far from stock.

You need a new screen name. I get you mixed up too often.

He was referring to the motor itself, which is why he said "bone stock motor" :durr letsrunem is well aware of the things that I have bolted to my motor ;)

In all fairness, I first registered here in 2005 with the screen name Voodoo, long before Voodoo Chick (if that's who you're referring to)

Then why even bother with stating its a "stock motor"? Who cares, its like your trying to impress the masses, or trying to prove your car is worth something. Come on man, knocking on 12's door is pretty damn impressive, stop trying so hard. :thumbsup

It makes it that much more impressive, the fact its a stock 4 banger with some boost...

Well, it's been a while since my last update, but it finally happened. I actually did end up putting my chick car on slicks! :rolf Here was the end result:

Mike (letsrunem) let me borrow his wheels to see if they would fit, and they actually did. His slicks were a little bit excessive for my purposes, so I ended up buying a pair of Mickey Thompson ET Drags 24.5x8" and taking them to the strip. Between the tires, a set of lug nuts, mounting, and balancing, I ended up paying about $400 for a 0.6 second reduction in the quarter:

Rob, car as always looks good and moves very well.

isn't 12.5x some kind of record?

i think you should change your s/n to "Chick mode" much more fitting.

Thanks Nick. Chick mode would be a very fitting username but then I would have to change it on ALL the forums I'm on. :D

I guess I kinda broke a couple records that day...

- Quickest Stock Internals 4G64 in 3G Eclipse
- Quickest Stock Internals 3G Eclipse (for both V6 and I4)

And I may also be the quickest stock internals 4G64 across all platforms, but that one's kind of hard to keep track of. Most of the people that swap in a 4G64 into some other platform end up building the motor as well, but I haven't really done much research in the area. But I haven't heard of any other 4G64 platforms (Galants, 2G Eclipse, etc...) hitting times like this.

Records nobody cares about, but records nonetheless :rolf

Sweet congrats!

Amazed the driveline took the abuse as well, but the mistu FWD stuff is fairly robust.

Wow yea I am shocked the Mitsu front shafts held up to the slicks

Voodoo
11-17-2010, 06:14 PM
Yeah, I'm shocked as well. I'm surprised my clutch made it out alive too. I launched 6 times on those tires with no problems. I was always very careful to preload the axles, though. Holding the e-brake up, I would start slipping the clutch at the first yellow light and let her loose at the third

good kill on the 12's...to be honest, I'd have never that slapping a turbo on that engine would net such results. How much boost are you running through there now? And that's with nitrous?

Great run for bone stock motor and street tires!!

"Stock Long Block" would be the correct term. turbo would be considered part of what we'd call an "engine" or "motor," therefore would not be considered "stock engine" for the car.

Voodoo
11-17-2010, 07:43 PM
Thanks. No nitrous, just 16 psi out of a Precision SC61.

Yeah, stock long block would be the best way to describe it; it's a mistake of habit really. Nowadays nobody knows the difference between a motor and an engine and the terms are often used interchangeably. On most of the forums I frequent, all the cars are boosted, so when people build the block or head, they can no longer say they are running on a "stock motor". I didn't mean to get in a pissing match about it, but instead of saying "stock internals", saying "stock motor" (referring solely to the longblock) was a more encompassing argument to describe the fact that my motor has never been disassembled, stock bearings, stock head studs, no porting, etc...

But I'm glad we have a term we can all agree on now :) My apologies

congrats on the runs that pretty damn fast.

FWIW i still say it is a stock motor your running stock long block so the next V8 guy that says they have a stock motor and has headers or nitrous or procharger does n[t have a stock engine? yeah they do with a power adder the engine is still stock now if you did port work to the head cams pistons then the motor is not stock. i have a turbo pt stock engine with a little spray..... well it did have spray now it is 100% stock.
