wow!!

Yea can't complain with how it ran for it only being the second time out at the track. Car was hooking great; suspension/chassis/instant center is actually pretty damn close to what I would assume it should be, which is the most important thing.

The powertrain wasn't even close to being pushed. Low boost, coming in slow, no intercooler, through crushed exhaust, backup trans, etc and still did 8s. But enough of the ricer excuses, Jim's gotta get back out there make a few more shakedowns and switch to kill mode. Then it should get really interesting.

He might even be able to beat my old datsun... only time will tell. :rolf :thumbsup

Seriously tho that car was cutting some seriously impressive 60' times for a stock suspension DR car on some random Friday at GLD. It should be very interesting once some.decent power is.actually running through it.

Realistically, you should have a double-arm anti-rollbar on the car. The thing is still a tank and you make big power.
Wolfe had one, and I think your buddy Bowman has one too.
Feel bad for ya Jim-hell every time I turn around there is a thread of something bad happening to you.
Golf clubs are cheap, but you might get hit in the head or something!!

murry calm down,,,, dont act like this thing is setting the track on fire,,,,, just be honest and dont play games on how it 60 fts and it runs 8 by et..;).

Like I said, it just not my place to really say what it runs. It's Jim's car, not mine. All I can say is that I personally was impressed that was all.

If you think I was trying to tell you it was setting the world on fire you must be crazy. Just because I used the phrase "color me impressed" does NOT mean I said "OMG this shit is the fastest thing I have ever seen!". IMO there are TONS of fast cars on this site and even so there is ALWAYS someone out there that is smarter and has more money. That is a given. As of right now the 60' times and ET, were actually more impressive than the mph, which is a good thing. :thumbsup

i think jims combo is all day long a 7 sec combo.. kudos .... jim told me to my face after dyno shoot out hes selln car anyways...

Jim changes his mind like Wisconsin weather. I have heard that one too, but I'm not holding my breath. It would be sad to see it go, that's for sure. :(

you said it was 60 ft a tic off the best,,, ok whats the best??? i dont have a standard i just know what a "best" 60ft is compaired to a good 60 ft...thats all... you have to remember im dumb and stupid ... iv never owned a race or tuned other cars ,... :shades

...

stock susp cars can run 1.15 60fts with slicks and 1.19s-1.25 on DR if power managment is used correctly....

:confused Sounds like the "scottie k standard of excellence" is actually pretty close to my own. Yea it is a tick off, on it first time out (with the right converter)... on lets just call it a non super sticky track day. Like I said color me impressed.. it is more of a kudos to all that setup the chassis in that car, namely Jim, Rollie (spelling?), Tom, and last but certainly not least Ron. :thumbsup

... so it better hook with60% power..

i have no doubts in your tuning abilitys..i wasnt knockn them...whats so ever.

For reference that car has complete control over the powerband, so it doesn't matter if I program it to eventually have full on boost, I can still get the thing to leave exactly the same.

One of the major differences between Jim's car and many of the other setups on here is the difference not only in maximum power, but more importantly programmable power range and resolution.

A car like the t-bird has TONS of power everywhere which is awesome, but unfortunately at the line it makes it a little more difficult because you are trying to hold it back almost exclusively with a combination of ignition timing/limiters. So lets say it can make 2400 horse, even with the timing backed WAY down and lower in the rev range the thing STILL makes over 1500. Whereas the GN has 2.5 pound springs and I can go all the way from 2.5psi (which we know "only" made 650 at the tires), all the way up to 25psi where we know it made 1600+. THAT is serious dynamic range, and that is why even when we decide to really rake the coals, it will still leave the exact same as it would on lower power. Nice as consistent.

jims car is no street car face it, i dont give a crap he can drivies 20 miles. or trailer it to hwy 100 and drive around its a high caliper race car period... Ps i didnt know you had a dyno queen,,

My car?! It is a jack-of-all-trades master of none. In terms of drag racing you guys are all in a different league compared to it. Just as mine is in a different league when it comes to road racing and streetability. The cars are setup to do vastly different things.

As for Jim's being a "Street car" it is all a matter of definition, an age old problem. All I can say is that I have no doubt that Jim could quite literally start his car of his phone, get in, drive it all the way down to the track on some cheap gas, and go run some ridiculous times without changing anything more than maybe a few suspension bolts and knobs at the track.

just be carefull 8.49 or faster the GN needs SFI seat in the car ;) your only a few tenths off ........:D
Yea I have my worries about that as well. It really should have an SFI seat going that fast, but I guess it boils down to how much tech cares and how much Jim cares about his safety (Jim, you listening?).

P.S. That last pass where it snapped the ARB was going to be a ramp to 14psi (as opposed to 10psi), and he actually remembered to turn the intercooler on for that pass as well (unlike the earlier high 8 where he forgot to turn it on). It would have been an interesting pass, that's for sure.

It is actually turning on the bilge pump inside of the intercooler water/ice tank, which circulates cold water through the water to air intercooler-
