Came across an interesting thread on the busa forum about this, turns out I'm not the only guy that runs 87. I ran 91 in my gsxr 1000, but 87 in both my TL and Busa and it runs way better then premium IMO.

Also I usually only fill up with Mobile/Exxon or BP. Had the worse fuel milage with Shell.

I have always run premium in my bike till I read a thread the other day as well. I put mid grade in it last fill up. Can't say I noticed a huge difference. I will run her dry and put 87 in there and see what she does. Alot of guys were saying theirs runs better as well with 87 or so.

I was running 93 since it was only .60 a tank. A lot of guys on the GS forum say they only run 87 and it runs better. My owners manual says 85-95 octane.

I haven't really noticed a difference in the half tank of 87 so far.

It depends on cylinder pressure and timing.

My truck runs best on 89 octane with a stock tune. But it was designed for 367hp on 87 octane. 93 octane on a stock tune only helps with heat and load (hot day pulling a trailer with the AC on), otherwise it's a waste of money.

93 The factory calls for 91 or better and while I have run 87 in the past and not noticed a difference, I figure it's not worth the risk of messing something up due to detonation. I don't know how anyone can say they can or cannot hear detonation on a bike when the engine is spinning at 14,000+ rpm.

87 octane on a stock tune is faster.

i run 93 only because of the tune is for it.

read up on psychobike.com/forums and they will all say the same thing. the 87 is the way to go.

the MR9 race gas from VP is 87 octane equivalent too

maybe i need to see if the 87 will run better with the current tune?

Why are you here? lol

I run 89 minimum in the tiller, pOrk told me to run 87 but I could hear it start knocking when it got to operating temp. It's fine with mid or higher

With a whopping 64 horse out of the fatboy I think 87 octane is plenty good!

I've always ran 93 in all of my sport bikes, i guess i just assumed they were set up to run on higher octane due to the compression and timing.
