I'm looking for a place to get a couple steering wheels reupholstered at a decent price. So far all I've found (in Chicago) is as expensive as buying a whole new steering wheel.

www.jaxseatcover.com is another option

Just realized their site is under construction, I heard they moved the shop too, used to be off 6th & Howard ish. Real big in the Turbo Buick community...they do good work.

I just had an ATV seat done at Home Style I think it was called. Its in Bayview across from the old Louis Allis factory.

They charged me next to nothing like $20 and did a great job.

Yeah, I bought a grab bag of stuff from a seller on eBay.au, it all came in varying condition. I'm still waiting on the guys with the lights.

The HSV wheel had minimal damage so I put it on my car:

but the SS ones have damage:

I'm also talking to someone in Aus about paddle shifters that fit our wheels, it will be awesome if I can get those and hook them up to my iPod.

Reupholtering a steering wheel can be very expensive because of how time consuming it is. You can almost never use the factory leather for your pattern for the new cover. Your car is new enough that you might be able to find a replacement leather cover from the dealership. Installing a replacement cover is no big deal.

Yeah, I've been searching some Australian forums trying to find if Holden sells just the leather, but they don't have any nice websites selling GM parts like we have here.

Jax is a great place, but as mentioned already - they are not available.

Doing a baseball stich re-wrap is a bitch. It's hard to get a proper stich, stretch, etc. If you cheap out it could feel like crap. IMO.

In the vette world Caravaggio does the best work. He's 5 min from my in-laws in Woodbridge ON (Toronto). He supplies places like Pratt & Miller and Katech. Otherwise DSvettes and APSIS sell similar stuff to his, just not as nice.

If you want to try to get the leather from AUS just PM olly on LS1GTO - if its a GM replaceable part he can get it. Most likely it won't be because the supplier to Holden/HSV gives them the wheels already wrapped. However, he might know who they used. We were going to import the "leather" seat covers for some HSV seats straight from the supplier, but it was $$$.

Thanks DY, I sent Olly a PM.

The only other place that emailed me back so far is Home Style, and they said they hadn't had luck with steering wheels.

Try Ace Auto Trim in West Bend, not sure if they do steering wheels, but I imagine they would.
