I actually was going to post this thread too, lol...

Yes, I've never seen as many mushrooms in my lawn as I've seen this year. It's probably due to the relatively high number of rainy and/or overcast cool days...

Im having the same issue!! They are the white ones and some small brown ones as well. It all started about two weeks ago. I rip them out but they are right back within a week or even less.

same here! we just had a bunch of small tan mushrooms popping up. i would advise against eating them. when i was a kid, probably around 7 or 8, i told the neighbor girl that she should eat the mushrooms growing in the lawn. when her parents found out she ate some they had to give her some of that syrup of ipecac to make her puke them up.

I am getting some too. Dish soap will get rid of them

I've got a bunch too - I'm assuming it has to do with the consistent rain lately.

I get them all the time. Usually it's because of tree roots rotting under the soil. I get probably 6 differnt types. The worst ones are the ones that puff into dust when you kick them. For some reason I don't get a warm fuzzy feeling about that. But maybe it's just the giant purple tiger that talks to me about 15 minutes later.

As far as know there's no way of getting rid of them beside digging that area out. I just rake them out.

I too have had a higher than normal number of mushrooms this year. I also am having some powdery mildew. Both are caused by the high moisture and cool nights. You can use chemical fungicides or corn gluten meal if you want to take an organic approach. Several application will be needed and may not kill them off entirely. The mushrooms aren't damaging to your lawn (except for fairy rings which can stress the lawn inside the ring). To get rid of them you can rake them away and then apply a fungicide or corn gluten meal, but until we get consistent dry weather you will probably have a hard time keeping them away entirely.

Definitely caused by all the rain. They are usually only seen growing in densely wooded/full shade/moist areas.

Throw a bagger on your mower if you have one the next time you mow. The shrooms like to feed off of whatever nutrients are available on your lawn (dead grass/mulch/ground up tree stumps/etc.)

Gasoline will also kill them!! But you will be left with a brown dead grass in that area. I think I will try the soap.

Once the sun comes back ( hopefully ) they will die off. I have tons of them, they came up 3 days ago.
