I need a gas tank repaired & sealed.
It has some pinholes, and a couple holes/cracks no bigger than 1", probably not even 1/2".

Approx dimensions are 36 x 28 x 9 (14 high w/filler neck on)

Any recommendations? The cheaper the better :thumbsup

Thanks!

That's half the problem, no one makes a gas tank (or any other repro parts really) for the '69 Toronado.
Fusick sells a lot of smaller parts & very common parts, but no major parts really.

I found one place that sells them for $300, and now I can't even find that site again :rolf
I should have found a car with more readily available parts :goof

Maybe I can find one with similar dimensions/filler neck, and make it work.

Mikes radiator in Waukesha does fuel tank repairs. They are on sunset by culvers.

well the redneck way..... is fill from out side with epoxy...then reseal the inside with tank sealer.... I fixed a toyota tank that had a 6 inch gash from a arrant driveshaft using this method before...aint pretty but it'll get it on the road

It's actually in really good shape other than the small pinholes/one or two tiny cracks.

I think I'm going to go with the POR-15 tank repair kit , a tube of POR-Patch , and a topcoat of POR-15 paint.

For less than $100 I'll have a new tank.

Rinse it out and braze it. If you don't mind ugly then you can use "Metal Mender", it's like JBWeld but not as brittle.

I usually just rinse, wire wheel, then braze though. I'm a cheap bastard.

how about a nice aluminum fuel cell instead?

I thought about that, but a decent 15gal + braided stainless lines would cost nearly the same as a new original one :|

Don't need stainless! Can use stock rubber

Patched a hole the size of a nickle on a 91 Crown Vic gas tank with bondo, never leaked, at least for the 3 years I drove it after doing that.

It doesn't look too bad inside, it's really clean except for some very sporadic surface rust... lots of rust chips make it look worse than it is.
I'm gonna fill it with water, length of chain, slosh it around, and wet vac it out to make sure all of the rust is out.... then I'll take updated pix.

The sock doesn't look too great :)
$70 for replacement unit... jeez.
