Sounds like the Chute didn't slow him down and if I read it right there was a Wall at the end he hit.... wonder why there is a wall there ?

Knew that would happen again there.same exact thing killed Kalitta.I don't know why NHRA still goes there when the shut down area is unsafe.

so much for cutting down the 1/4 mile to lower speeds and make it safer

He ran Top Alcohol FC, not nitro. They still run 1320'. His chute didn't spread out, not much blame on the track for that. RIP.

They need to figure out a way to move that concrete at the end of the shutdown,i guess there's a road back there, that's the reson for it.So that's 2 that have hit it and died.

Man I feel awful about this, some poor guy out living the dream and then tragedy strikes, thoughts and prayers to the family and friends...

I can't help but think something may have been under par with the brakes.
Seems to me you should still be able to stop a car or at least slow it down enough to safely hit the trap. I read one report the car was still going 100 mph when it hit the trap. These guys run what? 260?

I would imagine they use 4 wheel disc just like the fuel funnys. Pretty stout brakes too, 4 piston calipers and sometimes carbon fiber rotors and pads.

If the brakes truly weren't enough to slow the car safely, that track needs to be shut down. How many times have you seen chutes that get tangled and don't blossom, or burn from an engine fire, it happens pretty frequently.

Wasn't kalitta's accident only a year ago?
