I just caught the end of the news, and they said that there was an explosion, which sent a barrel into the air...
It apparently landed on an older guys' head, putting him in Really Bad condition...
Near the explosion, a 15yr old boy was set on fire... and is in bad condition...

Im guessing the area where they keep the Race Fuel in the shack is where the explosion happened...??

Anybody there to see it?? :wow

I was there, heard a boom, saw something blue in the air over by the stands. I heard later that a GLD employee was cutting the top off a empty fuel drum with a torch?.... :wtf

A race-car worker was working with a 55-gallon metal fuel drum in the pit area and somehow ignited it, he said.

I wonder how he was working on it?

well,
i just talekd to a guy who was there,
about 50 feet away from the guy cutting open a 55 Gallon fuel drum.
he though it was empty?
but it was not,
he was 18 years old, and severly burned,
and the drum flew up into the air, and into the Stands,
where a kid, about 17, watched it land on him,
it hit him on the head!
a third person got hurt too, from flying whatever?

i never really thought anybody was dumb enough to put a flame near anything that flammable?....or even traces of it left over

***The drum that blew up was NOT the one he was working on (that one already had the top and bottom cover removed...the one that blew up was a several feet away from where they were working.***

The investigators are trying to figure out what happened.

The guy with the torch has been working at the track for several years and KNEW what he was doing.

All three people involved are going to be fine...after a while in the hospital anyway.

I'll post more as I get the info.

Mannn, that $hit ain't funny !!! I was burned real bad in a fire, myself, and seeing that kid lying down on the ground with flesh burned from his legs, brought back some terrible memories. It's even worse to be him and having lots of people standing around looking on as you're suffering. Believe me, that stuff hurts-----fire aint nothing to joke about. What's worse, that barrel landed on a guy's skull from at least 35 feet in the air---it was 7 feet over the bleachers!! I saw it clock that guy right on the dome. OUCH !!! He just lay there holding his head together----it literally split his wig.
