thanks for the tip. my dad had his fixed free of charge and his wasnt bad at all. this isnt my car and I am sure she will get a warranty with it of some sort so I will let her know but more than likely, "in one ear, out the other".

E46 were NOTORIOUS for the subframe dropping out. So keep an eye out for that. Baller choice on car other wise. Sorry I am of no help tho.

I can't link them directly to the thread, so you'll have to search.

And it's buyer beware in Illinois. They don't have to safety inspect any of their cars down there, so there may be an underlying probem. If she does decide to buy down there, make sure she can take it to a mechanic to inspect before purchasing.
