I've finally had it with Time Warner. My TV picture is constantly pixelated or completely gone. I received a couple of offers on the same day to switch to satellite. After calling them both and determining what the "Real" price per month was going to be for my situation, they came up identical. (And less than TW by $13.)

So now the question is "Which is Better?"

Any experience or opinions you'd like to share?

I appreciate the help.

Thanks.

I just switched for Direct-shit-tv to TW. I had problems with pixelazation with TW, but they came out and apparently have fixed it. Picutre and sound are good.

DirectTv has HORRIBLE problems with audio/video synching! Especially on HD channels. And channel 58 is not in HD?? So bad I could not take it anymore. Every time I would call, they would blame it on the cable in the house--BS! Then offer to have a tech out to inspect, at a fee of course--more BS! Then more complaining, the tech comes out, says their engineers are working on the problem after I shot down all of his excuses???????

They lock you into a 2 year contract if you ever need new equipment, box, add a box, you get a new 2 year contract for FREE!!! They dont tell you that of course.

And you will definitley lose signal in storms. Which, to me, is exactly when you want TV so you can tell if something is coming your way.

Bottom line. DirectTv sucks donkey balls, and I told them that.

i just had U-Verse bundle installed today. Ordered online and got $400 in visa giftcards, plus it is slightly less $ than TW. 6 hours in, so far so good :)

Pretty much what catnhat said. Losing a signal during a storm does suck. It's the time you want the signal the most.

If it was me, I'd wait till later in the summer to make the switch, just cause they typically have a deal for getting the NFL package for free for new customers.

One new positive is they do offer multiroom DVR capability now. But at $3 a month, which is ridiculous considering they don't do anything extra to get that money. But it is nice to have, and was something I really wanted uverse for.

In the end I think EVERYONE sooner or later hates the service you have.

TW has an nfl package now? We have been thinking about switching to DirectTV since they have the nfl package. The quick quote we did ended up being pretty much teh same as the TW service we have now. For pretty much everything the same. Digital and dvr. But direct tv has the nfl channels with it. Which is what I want.

My DirectTV was horrible during any damp or rain, upon terminating there service I was told the HD box I "purchased" at Best Buy was actualy a lease and as a lease I was breaking a contract I never signed.....$450 later I took it in the @$$ and am waiting for a new sales rep to knock on my door, Im gonna beat them, rob them and bury them in a secret location for my $450 hit.....screw DTV!

I have a phenomanal HD picture both at new house and old place using TWC, streaming porn movies thru their high speed and no "satelite signal fade" ever.

Oh and I paid $250 for the box I leased......there are hundred of complaints just like mine online, bait and switch boxx's was the term.

No NFL package is exclusive to DTV.

We have had Direct TV for roughly 9 months now and lost the signal 3 times that I know of. Other than that everything has been great and Zero complaints. :thumbsup

We switched from TW cause we were sick of getting ripped off. We were paying over $100 with no premium channels. We were customers when we lived in New Berlin and when we moved we should have left them behind as well.

No matter what everyone is going to have diferent horror stories and tales to tell about their personal experiences. My advice to you would be talk to your neighbors and see what they have and what their opnion is. Ask them about service, signal etc...

Good luck to you.

FYI, if you love football as the NFL Package is a fucking must have!! :headbang

Going on four years with Dish, this last year with HD. No major problems just the rare storm outage, 2-3 times a year. We use the over the air antenna as backup. Lots cheaper than TWC. I really like the ability to watch dvr on either tv.

I have dish network at the house only because the dish was already there from my parents. No complaints so far, and have maybe lost the signal 2 times in the 8 months or so. For the price, I can't complain either. $36 a month for all the channels plus skinemax for the first year than it goes up to i think 60 per month or so. either way, i wont be in the house once it's sold so that's my out on the contract!

I do not know how DTV is cheaper?? Our DTV bill was $100 every month with HBO and 3 boxes, 1 I bought for $75 off of CL, had to return it to DTV. Then add phone and internet we were over $200/month.

We bundled the TW and got the HD and DVR on 2 tvs, phone and road runner for $134.

And all the shit I bought 7 years ago from Circuit City for 300 went back plus the cost of the new HD shit we got 2.5 years ago went back to. Except the fugly antenna on my roof.

To sum it up, DTV screws you into buying (leasing) their shitty equipment, locks you into a 2 year contract, then gives poor audio/viseo synching to boot.

Just google "directv sucks" a lot of sites on them.

ps. Direct tv SUCKS!

Yeah as a Direct TV subscriber for the last 3 years +, I'll say they aren't exactly cheap. My monthly bill is $95 without any premium channels and only the 3rd best package.

I switched to Dtv from Dish and told them to get their shit out of my house less than a week after switching. They still charged me the $480 cancellation fee and said I only had 24 hours to cancell after install. When you sign up they ask for a CC for shipping fees but they keep that card # and charge the fees to it without ever telling you (it's in the fine print of your contract that the installer doesn't give you time to read). If you want to try it out make sure you cancell it in less than 24 hours.

had direct tv for 5 years and also in the family for over 10 years. No complaints.

Thanks for all the input. Not sure there is a clear winner here. Maybe DirectTV is out. It's funny when people talk about losing a satellite signal when there is bad weather. When I was talking to the Dish people it was a clear day and my TW picture was going in and out.

I've had Directv for the last 8 years except during a few months when we tried TWC. I had more outage time with TWC during that time than the entire rest of the 8 years with Directv. My inlaws have had Direct tv since the early 90's. My signal rarely goes out except during really bad storms and then only for a few minutes.

I would go with U-Verse if you can get it in your area.
We currently have DirecTV and it's has been good except for occasional outage during a storm.

i wanted uverse but can't get it. i went with directv again. never had any trouble with them. if you get a satellite provider and get upset because you lose signal in a storm or heavily cloudy day you are just retarded. but then again common sense isn't so common these days. if you wanna deal with twc moronic customer service more power to ya. lol

Hey they are the ones who advertise how you can still get a clear signal in a hurricane.

Losing picture during a storm wasnt a big deal to me. That should be expected given the arrangement of the system.

And I will say that I think the picture is better on DTV than TW, but I could not tolerate the audio/video synching. 1080P on a PPV movie was pretty cool.

Oh well.
