I believe it will, Nick. Just gotta use your axles. Your caliper brackets should bolt right up to where the backing plates mount. I'm pretty sure the housings are the same.

no it wont, the axle housing is 1 5/8th too short. they legnthened them after 93. If it would of worked, I would of had 3.73's in the car all ready.

Corral.net disagrees with you. The axles are where the difference in with is made up.

WRONG! Devin (five0nut) and I tried to do it with his 86 rear end (that was out of an 88). With both of my 2004 axle shafts in the 86 housing, there is 1 5/8th inch on either side, so much so that the bearing guides dont even hit the bearing. Like I said, if it could of been done, I would of had the 3.73's in the car all ready.

the difference with the housings came in 1987. EVERYTHING after 1987 is the same housing, the axles/calipers/brake setup are what made the difference. I know this because I put an 88 rear end in my 95 and after swapping the axles out with the brakes there was no difference at all...

You contradicted yourself in your own reply. The axles are different...

And once again, you are wrong. Tried to do the swap on my 04, and my STOCK axles didn't fit. They were longer than the housing on either side, bearing guides wernt hitting the bearing guides and my axle housing was LONGER on both sides. The rear end we were using was from an 88. So I guess they must of changed something in 99 or in 04.
