Just Curious who all on BCM has had some sort of fire arm Training?

This has just gotten my attention because a guy at my work who open carries said that he never gone thru any firearm courses. Just Curious what others have done.

Wow I am suprised at the responses. When I talk to Open carriers majority of them say no training.

Well that and also when those WI Open Carry people were talking to the media over the whole sussex resturant incident with a state trooper the guy being interviewed also said he had no training. I brought it up because a man at my work says he attends rallys and everything and his eyes lite up when I told him I have a CCW permit and was inquiring about it. I asked him if he had any training and he said no but I been handling fire arms since I was little.

My dad got me a Red Ryder before anybody should own a BB gun and said "dont shoot yourself", much like my favorite movie Christmas Story I literaly about to my F-ing eye out....

When he handed me a very used Marlin 60 at 12yrs old or so he said "shoot yourself and you are grounded". Been pretty dam carefull since the Red Ryder incedent and didnt need further warning.

Osha and safety devices are saving the weak ones, need the heard thinned a little I think!

1. Most of the safety stuff SHOULD be common sense that any responsible person would understand.

2. Most of the stuff they teach you in training courses is more of an operations thing teaching you the technical stuff about how to use a weapon.

If you have 1. then you will probably be ok to carry a weapon as long as you figure out how to use it. The problem is people that don't have 1. even if they go and get 2. they are still a danger to themselves and everyone else. Like Russ said it is a good way to thin the heard, just as long as they don't accidentaly get someone else too.

Damn, I was gettin sick of the range by the time I got out......I was stationed near Parris Island and they sent me every chance they got. Supposedly yur supposed to skip a year if you shoot expert twice ina row......never got that one (even tho I'm 5th award)!

I love shooting, I just got sick of all the other crap....like the pits! I hated PI's pits too because half the time you have to listen for the shot, instead of having a big dirt pile where you can see the impact
