I am having a heck of a time getting my 302 to run right. It idles in park at 1000 rpm and when in gear its around 800-900 rpm. I checked for vacuum leaks and found none. I am pulling about 16 lbs of vac in gear. I thought that it might be timing but I checked it with TDC and it was fine. I am running a locked out dizzy at 32* timing. I also replaced the carb with a new Demon 625. Which then I got my A/F ratio within spec. Plugs seem fine.
I checked my pushrods to see if they were bent since it almost sounds like a high speed tick sometimes. they were fine. Since this almost stock I went with 6.250 length, measured to be sure at engine assembly. Heads were not milled, and seat height was stock. New pushrods, lifters, reused rockers. I checked for exhaust leaks and tightened all my header bolts.
I just cant seems to get this problem down. And could really use some help.
