Swapping on a 5.5 HONDA OHV engine onto a BAJA DOODLE BUG chassis....The original Lifan 2.8 HP is really " weak azz sheet " and had to go !

I checked out a bunch of sites and youtube clips for guys into Doodle Bugs and found out the Honda 5.5 HP is the swap that works best....

I'm installing a new Max Force clutch on it that will really let this new engine pull good...I'm shooting for a 50 mph top end with me on it ( 200 lbs ) and from what I have been reading it's totally do able..

I did not want to install some monster 8 HP or larger engine on this project as those are much wider and heavier than the 5.5 we are using is....Braking was also a concern with the added HP and we do have a nice disc brake to stop us...

We have a Bronco Go Cart with a 5.0 HP Briggs on it and today we hit 48 mph with a 150 lb. rider so , this lighter and more powerfull Doodle Boss will be bad azz when it's done....

Tonight I yanked the POS Lifan 2.8 off and test fitted the 5.5 HONDA....I have to get a longer throttle cable, bigger clutch , shorten the chain , modify clutch cover to fit the Honda , wire up kill switch and it should be good to go.....I hope to be testing this next weekend and will get some GPS top speed readings....

I have been gathering the parts for the swap and decided to go another route....The used 5.5 Honda engine I have was missing all the throttle linkage and it was going to be tough to make stuff work right.....I also was having trouble finding another decent engine for the other minibike swap project...So, I said "screw dis shit" and went out and got 2 brand new 6.5 HP engines to use.....With the parts I have on the way now this swap will be SUPER easy and work perfect.....I have some really cool parts going on these things and they will be very fast and much more fun to ride....

yea Bobbie , we will have to run them to see what they do.....

I got all the swap parts from hotrodminibike.com and the guy there told me with a bigger carb jet , header pipe and intake they hit 7 crank HP easy...He said the set up we run will be quick and fast even with box stock engines...I will prolly leave the engines stock , I don't think we will need the extra power ( for the extra money it would cost ) and the stock muffler will keep the noise down too...As soon as the parts get here ( should be next week sometime ) I will convert them over and bring them out and let you guys try them....

This swap was really worth it because now they will be able to pull even guys that are Boss's weight around with ease....

Not really yet but , we are joining membership with a place in East Troy that has a nice place set up to ride the atv's and minibikes.

I was going to try the new place out this weekend but, I just got my Raptor running today....

Project DoodleBoss 6.5 is done !

I want to do some custom paint work this winter on them ( we have 2 set up the same ) and maybe add the header and intake and carb jet kit...

I also want to try and remote mount a custom gas tank under the seat , I think I will have the seat flip up to fill the tank easier....

I have a grand total of $500 in each of these DoodleBoss's so far ( using all new parts and new bikes ) . My 2 nephews really love riding these things and when I ask them if they would rather be playing video games or riding minibikes they both gave a definate answer of the minibikes....
