(I tried embedding video but it didn't work)

I think the previous record was held by the Dodge Viper ACR for fastest lap time for a production car. Wikipedia shows some cars are still faster but I don't think any of those count as official "production" cars.

Not to rain on that 599xx parade (it's my new fav ferrari), but i believe there is a controversy about is it "production" or "production based" vehicle...since the 599xx is designed specifically for closed course...it even has lexan windshield/windows.

That said, let's wait to see what the regular 599GTO will turn when it get's it chance....(for the record, it'll probably set the record for regular production vehicle).

What a sound that car makes though, lol...

That car sounded like it had traction issues.

Still, amazing lap time!

I agree with Prince - it's a little controversial with the production vs production based. I'm a Ferrari fan though, so I'm OK with it :)

I don't think that should be legit, if you Ferrari won't let you drive your own car on the street, its not a street car. With that said, it should be interesting what the GTO turns.

Didn't realize the Gumpert had a run there, pretty impressive too. I think I'd take a Gumpert Apollo over that 599 any day of the week.

Yup... watching that video confirms that I'd never make it as a professional road course racer!

Alot of cars across this country that are not road legal, driven on the streets.

Yeah, but the Ferrari isn't even road legal on the streets from the factory. The whole point, unless I'm mistaken, is time for a factory street legal vehicle.
