Been throwing around the idea of buying a cruiser of some sort, ford, chevy, mopar Hell I don't care :thumbsup

If anyone see's anything on the side of the road let me know, I already searched CL a few days ago just by typing in 1950,1951,1952 you get the idea all the way up to 1970.

Might sell the neon but I don't know about that yet because of all the work I did to it :wow

Just bored with my cars right now....

Brad, look through the online classified sections of moparts to see if any mopars float your boat:

I'd recommend for a "cruiser" look at the "C" bodies ("fullsize") and trucks specifically. That's probably where you'll find the most reasonably priced, turn-key, project ready type cars...

But of course, good A, B, and E bodies are pretty righteous too...but also typically pricier....unless you found a decent /6 A body...speaking of which, a turbo version would be pretty cool too.

Likewise, they have the 50's and earlier section, AND AMC's...which would seem up your quirky alley (think aMC gremlin or pacer or eagle w/ 4.0 MPI swap!).

Even with a /6 A-body, you could do a modern fuel injected, turbo powered deal...or even simply blow through carb fairly cheap and make decent power.

Just throwing out a bunch of ideas!

I'd recommend holding your car for now...because it might also be good trade bait.

My boss has an early 50's belvedere that he just got running. I would like to buy it to cruise around in but I don't have the money to blow. Let me know if you want pictures or any more information

early 50s chevy 2-door with a really nice SBC and a 5-speed would be a killer combo. Or what about a Nova wagon or something different? What is your price range?

...thought the Imp michelle shows above is a good price...just be prepared for fakes and what not...but who cares? If you pay little for a fake Imp or GTO, or whatever, so what? If you pay a lot, that's when you get burned.

Generally the obscure cars (say an AMC matador or something smaller, like a rambler) can be had fairly reasonable.

Also, consider traveling to get the car...in that price range locally you may encounter rust/rot/etc...whereas that price range in southern/western states will get you something with paint fade or dirty interior...but no rust. Plenty of us are always willing to road trip to get help get a car....

And always keep the eyes open for mid/late 60's-70's era trucks...there are a lot of decent ones out there that'll give you a good cool factor that's easy to fix/restore.

A friend of mine (some of you know him, Bob with the '62 Fury) is selling a '40 Olds with a SBC. I know it's a little older than you want, but it's a definite cruiser and in rat-rod condition. It drove all the way out to Jefferson and I'd assume back (unless he sold it there).

Common now, seriously.

Brad, look into some 50's buicks or oldsmobos, 4 doors run less then 5 grand in driveable condition :thumbsup

you'll find something. ANything you get will be a lot of fun. The 50s cars are really a neat vintage. Like I said earlier an early 50s Chevy would be really cool. Like Prince Valiant said, at that price point I would suggest trying to get the nicest car I could. Consider looking at Texas craigslist ads for two reasons: 1) Wi classic car prices are usually pretty inflated compared to other states and 2) You will just get a more solid body to work off of
