He's pretty much got a little eco system there. I bet the water quality is amazing, zero ph.

Snapping turtles are probably the least ideal turtle to keep as a pet. They get very large and require a huge habitat. Now if you want one to eat that's different :D

I used to catch and keep them as a kid. now my kids want one. fun to watch them eat. i used to have a caiman in college, got salmonella food poisoning from it too. He died and he got stuffed. This, is "Captain Jack"

Buy my 75 gallon with a painted turtle :D I'll cut ya a deal. She'll chasing minnows around all day and eat pellets from your hand.

I just want to catch one, put it in the 20 gallon in my boys room, and release it at the end of the summer.

I just think snapping turtles are cool.

Thanks for the offer though:thumbsup!

We just got back from Florida and we caught:
1. Hammer Head shark
2. Skate (small ray about 2' in diameter)
3. a large painted turtle
4. a small coral snake
5. some tree frogs
6. chameleon, we brought this one home.

quite the animal adventure!

Caught 2 snappers today! 1 about 6" shell, probably let him go tomorrow. And another smaller one about 2" shell. Going to put that one in the kids aquarium and see what happens.

I tried that once with a little guy. I could not get him to eat for the life of me, ended up letting him go. What exactly do you have setup for him?

right now he is in a 20 gallon long, overhead filter, lots of rocks, gravel bottom, some plastic plants. It is primarily a fish tank, we just put him in there for the night. Tomorrow I will come up with something better. Will need a UV light and a floating rock, I saw them at Petworld.

The kiddies think he is pretty cool! Wait til he eats a fish!

Sweet! If you're really serious try to find a UVA/UVB bulb. Provides both the heat and the correct light for their health. Also the more water the merrier.

Oh and hopefully the gravel isn't small enough that he can eat it as it's been known to kill:
