You are shooting Nikon so it is VR or Vibration Reduction.

wb stands for white balance. The while balance setting is what makes your pics so orange.

My canon point and shoot produces stuff that looks that good at night?

If he had a tripod it would look different.

This will prove though, that it's not just the equipment that makes the pics...

hate to say it, but not too much to be proud of here. Tripod and some WB tweaking for sure.

Honestly those pics aren't very good. He missed the focus on both car shots. It bothers my eyes. They are also composed very poorly. I'm not even sure what the focus of the second pic is supposed to be. As said the WB needs to be corrected. Go get Lightroom and a tripod.

Thank you. Come again.

after looking again....I decided to look at the Exif data to give some pointers....but I ran by one thing..

why in the hell did you / he fire the flash for #2? onboard pop up flash goes a whole 6-10 feet if your lucky...even then, it blows out that one thing infront of you..

alright, i'll be on the other side of this.

a camera with this many functions and a special lense and then you put the pics at night with no tripod the pic's aren't that bad. sure a basic point and shoot camera will do this, but once he gets the hang of how to something like this and gets a tripod i'm sure good things will come.

The first time i used a Canon Rebel Xt i sucked the pics were no better then that of a kodak camera, well after some practice and alot of shitty pics i think i'm getting better.

Everyone starts somewhere. And you usually suck. But IMO if you post photo's online you should be expecting critique.

Photography is not one of those things you can't just go and do, and do well. It's kinda like sex... the more you do it, the better you are at it :banana1:

Fortunately, this car site has some VERY talented photographers. I went out and tried to take some pics of my bike a few days ago and they really turned out like crap IMO. I keep thinking back to some pics Pork took of he and his friends GSXR's.. those pics looked great as I remember.

Editing, something I have very little skill at, can really change how a picture looks though....

Here's a picture I did not take, nor is it my bike, but this guy sure knows how to use his camera and editing software...
