Anyone else going to be out at Jefferson? Buying / Selling?

We have our usual spots in the back of the Green Field again, just look for the camper and a whole lot of truck tires, lol.

You must have a memory laps and forget about all of the shit you have. It isn't majic, lol.

On a good note this will be the first jefferson in 3 trips that one of your S10s doesn't hit hit my truck, unless you plan on nailing it with the blue bomber to keep the streak going, lol.

Usually don't come home with jack but it's tradition. I don't think I have seen many decent classics out there for sale in years. Still gotta go look through the swap area in the hopes of finding something

04-19-2010, 09:09 PM
I go every year with my dad, and now my youngest brother. It's become something I really look forward to every year. Between my schedule and dad''s, we don't get to spend nowhere near enough time together. Cars are one of the few things we share a passion with or have in common. It's pretty funny, but now that I think about it the older I get, the more things we do have in common!

And the mud only makes things better! Thats a tradition in itself!

I am now gonna be out there all weekend. I gotta get rid of this four eye. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for capri parts and a hood orniment for the lincoln.

We go most years when the weather is at least "decent". If the current forecast holds, that wouldn't qualify.

I will be going, mainly just go through the motions still nowadays - it has been awhile since I've seen anything good or that was a decent deal out there. Back 5-10 years ago I would almost always come home with a crapload of stuff - bought 3 cars one show alone lol.

Anakonda69

Yeah thats how you get away with playing in the mud, wait for others to get stuck then go pull them out. If you get tugged out though the entire front of your car will be plastered with mud, lol.

you won't even be able to take a car into the parking lot field Saturday. They usually won't even let cars in there if its been raining. Plenty of street parking near the fairgrounds

04-22-2010, 05:41 PM
We'll be there selling in the usual spots in the red field.
Look for me sitting in the trailor, truck or inside one of the buildings,lol....that is if I can get rid of this cold by then.

You can park at the Fair View Inn, a bar that sits right behind the fair parking lot on the south end. Access to it is on highway 18 (main) just west of hwy 26....Some times they charge, get there early though, and you can park for free

My dad called me up earlier this week and asked if I wanted to go..... we both joked about Spring Jefferson being a Mud Pit, and Fall Jefferson being a Dust Bowl.

I'd go, but every year my "Scouts" look for parts for me, and never come up with anything good (my brother and his old boss have a spot every year..... granted they're always looking for Ratrod parts, not LS1/GTO parts....)

I went... parked in some guy's lawn... Scion tC with KDWs isn't exactly a good off-road vehicle. I got her stuck :rolf

I got what I was after, however. The rain wasn't bad, it was a little muddy and only rained for like a half hour around noon. Buncha wussies!

Not sure why people would stay home if they had plans to go out there. Plenty of buildings to duck into when the hard rains come. It was muddy tho for sure!

Was a good time surprised and happy about the turnout despite the rain on saturday. Mud is just part of spring jefferson just gotta be prepared...only think that sucked was the wind kept out of the west and was blowing right under the canopy :goof everyone loved the big mudder but nobody had the money, guess the R1's were destined to be used on the firetruck :D

Anakonda69
04-26-2010, 09:43 AM

making people lift the tire and wheel assembly to get their crazy low offer was entertaining though :rolf

Crawlin
04-26-2010, 11:16 AM
I was joking with someone at the track about Jefferson. We were talking about one of his buddies who if he got a real lowball offer, would just BREAK the part in front of them and say, "that's how much your offer is worth" or something like that, haha. Just the insulting offers people toss out are rediculous.

WickedSix
04-26-2010, 11:37 AM
yup chris its like a pair of decent used tires marked for 20 bux.....someone walks up and offers 5 for them.... then we respond with for your 5 dollars i'll go out onto the road and you can watch me burn them up..... seriously I had my NIB shifter there that retails ANYWHERE for 250 and I had 200 marked on it....and I got hundred dollar offers....so damn annoying... I had a set of big turf tires there that were brand new with $300 marked on them... a kid came up and asked if i'd take 150 for them and kevin literally told the kid he was on crack, and then said the kid could lick them for 150 but he wasn't gonna take em home.... I bumped up the price to $400 on sat the kid came back by with his dad and looked shocked they were HIGHER in price and left. then i had a farmer offer 300 and i took it... craigslist and ebay is shaping the buyers mentality for the worse

Crawlin
04-26-2010, 11:40 AM
lick 'em for $150....

i honestly think that if i were there, i would have rolled them through a puddle and said, "if you do a full tongue lick on the tire, you can have it for $150". I think it woulda been worth the extra money lost, haha.

I definitely agree with you on the craigslist and ebay thing. It's a for better and for worse type situation.

PonyKiller87
04-26-2010, 11:43 AM
Yeah we need to come up with something better than the lift the big tire to get your crazy price. While that was hilarious I think we need something that makes people look much more stupid in the process.

Maybe just bring a megaphone and yell at people, that could be fun.

Firefighter Z
04-26-2010, 12:02 PM
Ya I hate that shit., but in my case I didnt wanna bring my stuff home so I wanted it gone.
Alot of people were making my Uncles friends upset with the low balling in prices.

Josepy
04-26-2010, 12:13 PM
If your gonna sell the items there you need to expect the low balls. Pretty much happens everywhere now a days. Yeah some of those offers are just down right embarrassing.

jbiscuit
04-26-2010, 12:32 PM
I like the guy out there that had a table full of Snap-on tools and was asking MORE than the new price for his stuff. I couldn't help but laugh in his face when he said he couldn't budge on the price at all on a ratchet :rolf

PonyKiller87
04-26-2010, 12:42 PM
Yeah you get the crazy prices on both the buying and selling end, usualy from the same people.

I completely expect someone to haggle on any price I put on something even if it is a good price, but one some one offers you half of a price that is already a damn good deal, its just like WTF.

Its alot better when I'm already tired or pissed off then, I have very little patience with it at all, thats when things start to get funny because I just insult back.

WickedSix
04-26-2010, 01:58 PM
We all expect tire kickers and SOME low ball offers....but when u get someone so heated they insist ur crazy for not taking their crap offer it tends to get to you.... I like the people that try and get what u paid for something too... its not what I paid for it that matters its what I'm willing to let you have it for that matters... honestly though the people watching is worth the price of admission...i mean where else are you going to see a guy with two perfectly good legs walking around with a prosthetic leg he just bought from a vendor :rolf

Waver
04-26-2010, 04:09 PM

I guess it depends on the price already. I usually offer about 75% of the asking price- except from the "stores" (like the lug nut guy or some of the car-specific vendors). I got my Keystone Klassics for $75 when the guy was asking a bill.

Anakonda69
04-26-2010, 06:00 PM
yeah i get some low balls but i mean damn. i am just gonna quit being nice and even entertaining stuff like that. 75% is a good starting spot. no qualms with that.

PonyKiller87

Yeah 75% is more than reasonable, but when people start at 25% of what your asking thats what pisses me off.

like the offer of a hundred bucks i got for the locker and told the guy i'll turn it into a boat anchor for that price and he walked away like wtf just happened?...or the people that ask if you have 4 of the r1 tires? its like dude there flippin huge tires do u see 4? no obviously we have 2...i do have a great time though and am pissed i missed pats drunk ass "hopin" the fence and ripping his pants knee to knee, lol
