I am trying to cut stainless steel that is .04" thick. I have a 2400W laser. What are the ideal settings to cut. I can lower the power if need be. I also have Nitrogen for an assist gas. What speeds, PSI and pierce/dwell time should I use. On off time of beam ect. Thanks for the help.

I vote that this be moved to the High Energy Physics section. :D

I will have a partial answer if you give me a little bit ;)

...and I wholeheartedly welcome a high energy physics section. :durr

Per the laser guy I work with:

Pierce = 2400W dwell = .2
Cutting =
P = 2400 q=500 r=100 f=200-240

Well it depends upon the type of laser you are using and the actual composition of the stainless you are attempting to cut and the surface finish you want on the cut
