I've heard stories from other owners that 10 years is very possible. Unfortunately, 7 years is the norm.

Danes are really a great breed. I'm constantly getting compliments about Lola's personality when we are in public, especially considering her age and size. They definitely stick with the nickname "Gentle Giant". (:

Oh yeah, I have found that keeping hydrogen peroxide around the house is a very good idea with a Dane (and probably any dog, since I had to use it when our Beagle got into our garbage can). A few teaspoons/tablespoons and up comes whatever he/she ate. Lola likes fabric from toys, but I have heard countless stories of other dogs and socks.
