Chris and myself were installing my rockers and I took off the drivers side valve cover which I havent taken off since a year ago and this is what I found..

Thats the THIRD rocker that has broke on me now.

My guess was that the pins were coming out, which is causing the roller to come out, which then caused the rocker to break. I'm guessing this because there was another one that the pin is already making its way out.

How tight is the lash set on the valves or are you running longer aftermarket studs? reason I ask is seems like the rocker is adjusted way down by looking at how many threads are showing at the top of the studs. Most ive seen were adjusted correctly with only 4 or so threads showing between the top of the stud and the top of the nut.Oh one more thing do you adjust the rockers with it running or not?

I'd be jumping up and down that it didn't suck a valve!

^^^ Yeah the lock nuts do look to be down really far... Im gonna go with incorrect lash or coild bind because of that. Obviously if its a reoccuring issue, there is something going on beyond "bad rockers"

Maybe its just the reflection, but doesnt it look like its developing a score in the middle of the roller tip next to it too? that takes some extreme pressure if so!

Unless the studs are too long, I would think the valve would never seat with the adjuster that far down. You might want to check your pushrod length. If thats not a reflection on the good rocker, you are getting way to much movement on the roller.

Summit brand...... They are stamped..

Thanks for the opinions guys. I'm taking the car over to Jim's shop and have him look at it. I don't know much about this kind of stuff and I don't think I'm going to have much time to try to mess with it anymore.
