Anyone locally? I've heard of people having success with those cheap rattle cans of tint? I'd never trust myself with it.

Its easy to do. Take the lights out. Wet sand them. VHT makes a night shades can that does it. The more coats the darker it gets. If yoosof can do it you sure can.

I am going to do mine also.

I did mine also. The only part of the job that sucked was no one locally sold the shit so I had to wait for it to come in the mail. I noticed the other day at advanced auto parts they sell it there now. The stang took 2 1/2 cans to finish.

I also took mine over to the local body shop and had them clear them. They came out nicer that way

I had mine done last year by Pork's buddy Crash. They turned out awesome.

x2 for crash. I'm sure the Nightshade can turn out nicely with enough patience and if you follow all the steps and prepwork, however when I had tails tinted, I just took the guesswork out and had Crash do them up. Definitely looked professional

Same here. I think it was around $65 for the pair.

$65 isn't bad at all. Especially if you figure the cost of materials and time. I am curious to see how Yoo's turned out.

I love how these look, not to dark and not to light:

I did mine with the VHT cans and only needed 1 can but my taillights are alot smaller than the fbody ones and I didnt make em dark. I just wanted a light tint to them not blacked out but I did black out the front turn signal markers.

these would have been darker but I sanded alot of tint off of them for a nice smooth shiny finish.

Dont use the night shade. Its dull as hell and looks like crap. Get them done with clear at a body shop! Got all mine done on my stuff that way and they look awsome.

You can always clear over the VHT that's what I did.

for $65 you just cant beat that price. If thats it, have crash do them. With my way I spent $80 in clear to have the shop do it then my own product in VHT and tape and shit.

I think Crash Charged me $80 going from memory. But I have all that chrome trim that needed to be taped off my lenses. Not sure what the going rate is now. Pork may know or at least be able to get you in touch with Crash

i have a guy here at work that does them for around $40 or $50 depending on size. he is a body guy on the side. he did his lightning. i work at an industrial paint shop and he is a painter here so he knows what he is doing. i'm gonna get my truck done soon.

Just out of curiosity, just how legal is this? Anyone get messed with by the police?

I haven't been pulled over or anything, but you don't see too many audi tt's around town. Maybe the cops think its stock? Either way, if I see a cop behind me, I always turn on my headlights.

I definately wouldn't want mine blacked out. Just a nice tint like pictured above.

Crash uses base coat / clear coat, not ghetto VHT. its 80/ pair unless you get a group buy together ( 4 pair plus ), then its 70 / pair.

I agree. they make the lens look dull and scuffed. I lucked out the camaro had covers so i could take them off easily if a cop gave me a fix a ticket. :thumbsup

What kind of prep did you have to do? Wet sand after?

What kind of prep did you have to do? Wet sand after?

wet sanded before with 2000 grit. got it all scuffed up wiped them off with micro fiber layed a coat. let it dry re wet sanded it smooth it back out. dry it again with a micro fiber and lay anouther coat think i did that for 3 coats to get the black out look. i acually still have a can left cuz i thought i would run out. after it was all done i wet sanded one last time then buffed them out by hand with some scratch x i think i usually run plast x over them once and a while to clean em up real nice
