I talked to a friend that also has a 95 sedan. He doesn't wanna change the factory open 2.56 rear. :punch:

A guy I know was just telling me last week his rear end was howling in his caprice so he wanted to swap out the rear for a decent posi. I'll let him know about yours. I think it would fit

Tony you need to list the rear end size and what gear ratio is in it now to determine the series carrier it is because that can be a deal breaker. Obviously its a 10 bolt 8.5"/8.625" axle though. But what is axle spline count on this though? 28 or 30?

it COULD also be a 7.5.
tom,the big cars all had 30 spline axles with the 8.5

Did these cars have 4.3 motor options too? Would the 7.5 come in the 305 and 262 cars only? Id assume the TBI 350 and LT1 cars got the big axle?

i would believe that would be true Tom. The baby lt1 would have been a 7.5 for sure. I know my 91 305 car has a 7.5 in it also....for now

I just brought home a '79 Bonneville 350 with a 2.41 open rear so this might be just the thing it needs. I think the Roadmasters came with 2.56 standard and 2.93 optional, though. The RPO sticker in the trunk will say GW9 or GU3 for 2.93, GM8 for 2.56, or GU4 if it came with a 3.08. If it's a 2.93 or 3.08, I'm interested.
