I just found this one on ebay... What do you all think? It seems to do the normal stuff, and go beyond, however it's made by Chilton, the company that makes manuals...

I prefer a scanner with more in-depth abilities. Readiness monitors and such. Depends on what you want to do with it I guess. If you just want to read and erase codes its fine, but if you deal with emmisions failures or need to see live data you're gonna want something more like this. The only downside to this one is it only reads domestic vehicles. Not sure if they make one that will read foreign cars or not. http://www.actron.com/product_detail.php?pid=16150

I bought on of these off of ebay a few years ago and it works great. Shows live data and readiness monitors.

Most likely it will read the generic codes and not the mfg specific codes.

I actually wanted to buy the Craftsman one that reads ABS codes as well, but keep thinking I can just cheap out on it...

Guess I'll just wait and buy the nice one...

Check out Amazon.com the scanners are something that there always seems to be super closeout models of. I got a super nice one awhile back for next to nothing. Cordless/rechargable tools are great on Amazon as well.

I have the same one, expect it also reads vw/audi vag and obdII canbus. Great scanner!
