Is there a certain helmet that is needed to make a run or can I just use any type of helmet?

Snell 2000 or newer, or M2002 or newer if I am correct.

You can go and pick up a nice HJC helmet for a cheap price and it will be compliant.

Technically that helmet is not legal.

It really depends on who is teching as well and how fast you are really going in terms of if you actually get caught.

IMO just get a newer helmet. Open face SAs are pretty cheap and Ms are always pretty cheap. Only downside to M helmets is that they typically NOT legal for auto-x or circuit tracks.

They only need a helmet with the 13.99 and faster cars. Tim is right,snell 2000 rating. A motorcycle helmet(snell M2000) is also fine.
A "DOT" helmet means basically nothing.Snell does testing to rate a helmet and its safety factors.Whats your head worth to you?

I guess this is the question, What is your head worth? When it comes to safety I don't care what it cost, go to behlings in butler, they range from 200 on up.

I have a SHOEI size large you can come get for $75. Says DOT Snell approved. Doesnt have a years stamp at all but neither does my brand new motorcycle helmet.

the snell stamp with year is under the padding on the inside of the helmet

X2 I bought my Impact from them last year. If they dont have what you want they can get it.
