After going through the concealed carry course, there was ALOT of good information in it. I honestly think that it'd be a great course to take even if you plan on never carrying. Having completed this course though has a couple of us thinking.

I know Coop and I discussed this already, and we are looking like the June 19th date to take the Handgun 2 course is what may become a reality. Far enough away to save for it and allow others that may have wanted to take the first class to complete that before taking the second.

This one is about 4-5hrs long instead of the 10hrs, and it's more about shooting techniques than actual speaking. So more range time. Requires 250 rounds

I haven't written him but I did talk to the wife about it. We can sign up at any time. All the advanced courses are taught up in Lodi, so about 1hr 20min away.

Who's up for it?

Chris
Coop
Eric - maybe
Bret - maybe
Scott - maybe

I was originally slated for yesterday's course but had a bit of real life intrude so I called and switched my course date to April 3rd. If I like what the course is all about, I will join you guys for part deux in June.

Nothing major, more stupidity on my part than anything. Hard to shoot when you fuck up your trigger finger. :rolf

I didn't get a chance to ask any questions other than the information already provided about Handgun2 as we were behind schedule today, but I think I will be going in on the rest of these courses as time and money permit. Unless I lose my job, I'm pretty sure I will be going to Handgun2 with you guys in June.:guns1

Did we get a cost on 2 yet?

Nope. I'll have to contact them to find out. There is also a Handgun2 course on April 24th, if anybody is interested in going sooner than June.

that 24th is the dyno stuff up by jim and there is also the true street races, so a couple people would probably be out.

Coop just let us know what he says for cost when you get the email back

I'm in, but for me it's gotta be the afternoon class. No way I'm getting up at 4 in the morning to make a 7:29 AM start time. Hell, I'm usually just going to bed at that time...

That's fine with me too Bret.

That way we can get breakfast too, haha.

I'm down Coop. I think that's just a prepackaged email response.

I made the 1:00pm Handgun 2 class today. Not a bad trip and fairly easy to find. (As long as you have a google based smart phone to get you there 'cause the Mot Mot GPS you also own is a fucking POS )

Nice range, very well ventilated. About a 1/2 hour of class room discussing the techniques that would be covered and then out on the range for a LOT of shooting. I was using a mag loader and my hands still got tired. Lots of fun. Looking forward to Handgun 3 and 4 where you start learning to shoot from a draw and firing from concealment, firing around barricades, weak hand shooting and different positions. Handgun 5 is the Master class. :shades

I will also be taking the Carbine classes. Same type of deal and I think some of those techniques will apply to defensive shotgunning, as well. Mike Bender is a nice guy and a great teacher and I really recommend his classes to any of you guys that are sitting on the fence. If you really wanna learn how to handle guns in a real world situation, his methods and some practice will get you a lot closer to surviving a deadly attack that just the occasional trip to the range. I've been shooting handguns for 28 years and even I'm learning stuff and becoming a better shot. As they say on ebay: Highly recommended!
