I'm looking for a nice .223 rifle for some range shooting maybe varment hunting down the road. something under $500. Now as for what i have i have a Marlin firearms Co. bolt action .22 i think its a MODFL 81-DL-22CAL from what i can sill read off of the barrel its a little rusty but fires good could use a new site since the gun is pretty old i did not purchace this gun it was here at the house when we moved it i cleaned it up as good as i could with out sanding down the barrel. i really don't know too much about guns so i wouldn't know what this is worth. the loading guide might have to be adj. since i don't know how or what to do the bullets sometimes don't load properly in the barrel and you have to use your finger to help line it up. i would have a picture up but my camera battery crapped out and can't fnd the backup one. i can get pics asap. and let me know what you got for .223 rifles if any. oh i would like maybe $100 for the .22?? offer me something you can come take a look at it and shoot it if need be.

watch out cleaning stuff up. sometimes people considerably ruin the value by doing so. when in doubt, dont do it.

You should read some of the collectors forums. Some of them are super anal about doing anything at all to the firearms.
An example http://7.62x54r.net/Forums/index.php?topic=5346.0

its not cleaned up to the point of being restored more or less wiped all the dust off and lubed up someof the mechanism's so that it works good. they all shoot well and have been kept at my buddies house now for a while.
