I don't see why you'd want more grocery stores then bars.

ya that doesn't really make sense. I know of plenty of places with more WalMarts than grocery stores...until walmart started carrying groceries.

Why would anyplace need more grocery stores?

Any town only needs one good-sized grocery store.

Competition. it's the same reason why you can buy everything at Kroger at regular prices for 5+% less than Pick'n'Slave. It's the same reason why there are so many Super Walmarts and Super Targets popping up, Sendik's keeps putting up new stores, Woodman's is moving East, and Costco likes it so much here. People are used to paying ridiculous prices for groceries thanks to the Roundys Corporation so other grocers don't need to have the volume to make money (historically, grocers operate on a 12-14% margin on food, here it's 20-25%).

Believe it or not, anywhere in the midwest but here you can still buy a bottle of French's Yellow for a buck.

They should have another map showing the highest percentage of professional drunk drivers.
