Wynn Buffet for Buffets. Huge already peeled shrimp.

Steak and/or Lobster at Rosewood grill, best steak Ive ever ate. Hugos Cellar Downtown is great too, includes salad desert and main in one price, very romantic.

Check out Ceasars Mall.

Go to the Bellagio, and go to the Piano Bar near the center of the casino. Its an awesome place to chill.

Go Downtown and see Freemont Light show at night. Also check out Mermaids Casino there, they force free drinks on you while you are on a machine.

Sign up for players cards and ALWAYS use it when you play.

When you check in, fold a $20 bill up and put it between your CC and ID. and ask "Are there any complintery upgrades available?" It works like %75 of the time. You can get a nicer room or one with a better view.

Vegas does not have to be EXPENSIVE....If you are not winning, hang out at the bars and window shop with the woman. See a show. When me and the GF go we eat 2 meals a day. A big breakfast or brunch, then a nice meal at night.

Just forget anything you've ever read about Vegas being cheap to eat or drink at. Cheap food and alcohol is hard to find.

Depends on where you go. If you play, getting food comps is easy. You just have to ask.

But that requires gambling, which is really tight out there right now. So playing $200 worth of gambling to win a $25 meal isn't really coming out ahead. Nor is Playing $20 in a slot to win a $5 beer. I was just out there and had more then my share of expensive "free drinks".

Just everybody thinks Vegas and thinks $5 steak and Lobster and free alcohol. It ain't that way anymore. Vegas has some of the best food in the country, but it costs money.

And lets be honest. first trip out there, with his wife. the odds of gambling enough to get real comps are going to be slim. He'll be running from joint to joint to see and do everything. A person's first trip out there isn't really a good time to be working on your comps.

Sounds like you had a bad time out there.

I think only the very naive think that now.

I tell anyone, if you go to Vegas with more money that you can afford to spend, you shouldnt go anyway.

Wrong. Little trick I would do when I wanted a bear is just sit down at slot machine. Usually in the quarter or more slots as the drink girls hang out there more. Sit down and put a 20 in. Just sit there and make it look like you are playing. But don't. Keep and eye out for a drink girl. When you see one heading your way play a pull(cheapest pull you can). Just sit there again. When she comes back do one more pull. Tip her a buck. Boom you just got your drink for a little over a buck. Worked every time.

I was getting coronas just walking down the street at a couple casinos for 2 bucks all day and night.

Vegas was awesome. So much to see. But as said above stop in at as many casinos as you can. Sign up for their club card. Usually you will get a free gift or free 10 dollars in play. Give them your email too. I get emails all the time for hotels for 30 bucks or less. So I know what is out there. Worse come to worse you just block them. But take that free play and use it. Some casinos are more free play than others. But take advantage of them all. That is free money right there. I turned my probably 60 bucks I had collected from different casinos in free play and turned it into like 120. Not too bad when you didn't spend a dime.

One thing I can't stress enough. TIPPING IS HUGE!!
Like said above about the hotel slip a 20 in with your id and cc. Odds are you will be a much nicer room. When you go to see a show. When you hand your ticket to the dude that seats you have a 10 in there. But don't flaunt it in front of people. Make it stealth. He will see it and seat you in MUCH better seats. I went to a topless show with my family(8 people) and we bought the worst seats you could get. 10 bucks got us in the front row at the pole. Ussually at shows they have the front seats all with reserved signs. Those arent actually reserved for people. Just for the first people that tip the guy. Same with the impersonator show. We went from middle to 3 from the front. Tips is everything. And will get you anything. When at a show tip the drink person nicely if they take orders at your seats. Because odds are she will be back instantly when you need another one and she might give it to you on the house. We got a free round that way. Was a 10 dollar tip for her. 5 free drinks for us.

Oh and if you are walking the strip alone at 3 am. Be prepared to be offered EVERY drug known to man haha. Was hilarious.

No I hear it all the time from people making their first trip out there. They watch Vegas Vacation and think that's how Vegas is.

I'm just giving a friendly warning to people making their first trip out there. I know most people are sticker shocked by the price of things compared to what they see on tv and movies. sure you can find cheap places. Casino Royale, O'Sheas etc. Not really much on the Excalibur end of the strip though.

I go out there pretty often, went to school there, folks go out there probably 6-7 weeks a year and get comped very well. So I know all the ins and outs of Vegas.

I did have a bad trip last month. I can also say that the 5 guys that were out there with me and were gambling as much as me had their worst trips in history as well. Nobody won anywhere. It was extremely tight out there. We all got crushed. That said I don't go expecting to ever bring home a dime. I go expecting to come home empty handed and hungover.

As stated, have to take the wife to Ceasars mall. Also check out the Venetian, free show at TI (Treasure Island), fountain at the Bellagio, and Volcano show.

I have to say stay away from all you can eat when there is a window of time and no buffet. They just drag their feet amd the food is terrible.

Pretty much Ceasars mall will be worth the trip and everything else is a bonus.

thanks for the tips. i will definitely check out the casinos and sign up for the players cards. the hoover dam we are going to see. i will tip the person at the counter at check in because we are staying in just a basic room so if i can get a nicer one for a $20 that would be cool. we plan to do alot of walking and sight seeing. i found a website where i can rent a car for 5 hours/100 miles. corvette for $169, cobra for $250, or a lambo for an all day price of only $1300 :stare. really looking forward to getting away.

Let me know if the tip works. :thumbsup

Have a great time!

One last thing, when walking by a solicitor for shows or time share tours, the easiest way to have them leave you alone is saying "We are leaving today". Gets tham off your back quick.:chair:

Safe bet I have been to Vegas more than anybody on the forum. All the tips are good. A few I would add, RENT A CAR NOW! you will be able to find one for $15.00 per day plus all the crazy fee's. Rent a compact and ask for a free upgrade. You will get it as they are usually out of compacts. Taxi fees went up in Vegas and with the traffic, one taxi ride a day is more expensive than a car. Stay away from the exotic rentals. You have no idea what that will end up costing you. A taxi from the airport to your hotel will be $15.00 - $25.00.

With it being your first time there you will be overwhelmed at everything there is to do. Agree that The Forum shops at Ceasars is a must, Check out all the major casino's, We just stayed at Aria and loved it. Now a tie between Palazzo and Aria for our favorite. Take a helicopter tour if you have the cash. A simple one over the strip is cool or you can spend big $$$ and do the strip, hoover dam and the grand canyon in a day.

Clubs are great but be ready to spend.

Dave is right with two meals a day. The buffet at Wynn is the best of all in town also one of the most expensive. I believe $35.00 for dinner.

You will have fun and learn very fast.
